Update from District Nurse
Please view the attached letter regarding sickness from our district nurse. If your student has been diagnosed with Covid-19, RSV or the flu, please notify your school nurse directly either by phone or email. We are required by the Alabama Department of Public Health to notify them in case of outbreaks within cohort groups. Notifying your school nurse ensures we are up to date and doing all we can to help prevent further spread of illness to other students and staff.
Lost and Found
In order for our Lost and Found to remain manageable, we will be donating items once monthly, May 21st will be the final donation for the year. Please come by 3:00-5:30pm daily to check for lost items. Thank you!

SchoolPass Visitor Procedures
Our district is introducing a new platform for school visits known as SchoolPass. This initiative is an additional measure to help keep our school campuses safe. The procedures for SchoolPass are as follows:
- Any visitor coming on campus to visit a student needs to be listed as a contact for that student in PowerSchool.
- Visitors to the school will each need a government issued identification card such as a driver's license.
- The government-issued ID will be scanned on a device in the office front lobby to provide a visitor's badge. SchoolPass will perform a national sex offender database search for each visitor and will use their full name and date of birth.
- Once initially scanned, a unique four-digit pin # will be provided to each visitor to use to sign in on subsequent visits to the school.
Thank you in advance for your patience and your flexibility as we integrate SchoolPass into our daily routine for school visitors. We are excited to have this new measure in support of the safety of our school.

Safety Updates
After morning carline ends, there will only be one entrance and exit option at Midtown. This will be by the guard shack. Upon entry, the security guard will ask your need to be on campus. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this!
We lock our playground on evenings and weekends. Unfortunately, there has already been damage to our playground. Our priority is to keep our playground and grounds safe and functioning well for our students.
We feel encouraged and thankful for these many efforts to keep Midtown as safe as possible.
Morning and Afternoon Car line Information
- Morning car line is from 7:10-7:40. Class begins at 7:40, so please arrive no later than 7:35. Please have your child sit on the right side of the vehicle and be ready to exit the vehicle as soon as the cars stop within the loop. If the student is able to get out of the vehicle once the cars are stopped and the staff gives the signal, we would like to highly encourage them to do so. Please drive with purpose as the staff is waving you forward. In the morning carline, please make sure your car is in PARK when stopped. This is VERY important for student safety. Beginning around 7:30 and buses are clear, we will have a line of cars exit at the bus loop. Thank you for your help!
- Please only enter for carline from Landers or Plaza. Car line entry is at the guard shack directly off of Coefer Blvd. All cars entering the car line should be turning right off of Coefer or proceeding straight across from Landers. There should be no left turns into the car line from Coefer. Please review the diagram below.
- The Kroger parking lot or front office parking lot are not approved drop off locations for students. This becomes a safety concern as staff are only expecting students to be bus riders, walkers, or be dropped off through the carline. We will have staff monitoring this as we want to make sure all students are safe. Thank you for your help!
- Afternoon Car line will begin around 2:45pm. Please follow the staff directions and do not switch lanes once directed. This will only result in longer wait times for all vehicles. The students are input into a system and there is a purpose for the lane you are directed in.
Bus Information
Mr. Turner shared GPS tracking information. Please check your email for this information.
Walker Information
- Please make sure you live in the neighborhoods surrounding the school such as Cottonwood or Park Meadow to be a walker. Please do not pick up from April Dawn Drive if you do not reside in Cottonwood.
- We would like to discourage any families that are using the Kroger parking lot as a drop off and/or pick up. The crossing guard is allowing the students to cross Wall Triana, therefore we do not feel this Kroger option is safe. Thank you for your understanding of this.
- The crossing guard will only be at Wall Triana and Coefer until 7:40am. If you choose to walk your child, we wanted to make sure you were aware of this.
Park Meadow Walkers: In the afternoon, please be prepared to meet your child on the sidewalk where the crossing guard is located at the intersection of Wall Triana and Coefer.
April Dawn/Cottonwood Walkers: In the afternoon, please be prepared to meet your child by the gate closest to the neighborhood near carline.

Our Midtown store is open year round. Please click here to order!
Birthday Celebrations
We strongly encourage one of these options to best celebrate your child:
- A nonedible treat such as a bouncy ball, slinky, sticker.
- A store bought prepackaged treat, not to include cupcakes.
- A popsicle if allowable by your child's teacher.
Unfortunately, we will not allow or suggest cupcakes to celebrate your child's birthday. Please also know the above options are completely optional and absolutely not required. Thank you for your understanding!
