Miscellaneous Woodwind Ensemble Members: Sophia Figarelli, Isaac Rios, Natalee Guico, Andrew Samuel, and Anthony Morris

TSSEC (Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest)

All those who qualified for TSSEC will be meeting with Mrs. Taylor during their band class on Monday. Be prepared to communicate your intent to compete at the state contest as there will be some additional cost for accompanists as well as transportation. If you are planning to go and compete but are planning to ride with your family, I'll need that information as well.

Solo & Ensemble Make-up THIS FRIDAY, March 3, 2023 3- 5 PM

Any student who was ineligible for the Solo and Ensemble Contest or was sick or missed for any reason needs to be prepared to perform their solo for directors who will judge and assign a rating in line with UIL rating rubrics.

Students will need to be dressed up appropriately as if they were performing at the Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students will perform their solo with their Smart Music Accompanist just like they would at the contest

This contest counted as 2 major grades, and cannot be made up at a later date, please plan accordingly as this is already the make up date for the contest. Students were made aware of this date on Tuesday, February 21.

Sectionals

All students should be attending one sectional per week and is determined by band are consistent from week to week. Reminders and any necessary time adjustments are posted in individual band class apps. These are required and students receive a grade for these after school rehearsals.

BAND FEES ALL DUE AT THIS TIME; URGENT: ACTION REQUIRED

Students who are on a payment plan need to make a payment by Wednesday of this week to be eligible for the Assembly this Friday.

At this time, all fees should be made through CHARMS & SKYWARD. If you paid SKYWARD fees in CHARMS at the beginning of the year, you should see where that was transferred and your SKYWARD account should not show an outstanding balance. IF you see an outstanding SKYWARD fee that you paid through CHARMS, please let me know so I can follow up and ensure that your student is not on the LOP by mistake.

If you have an outstanding balance that does not NET to ZERO, students will be ADDED TO LOP and unable to attend the Assembly this coming Friday. Please take a minute to double check that your CHARMS balance is Paid in Full and that any SKYWARD fees are also paid, UNLESS the CHARMS credit nets that to zero as mentioned above.

Eligibility (some new)

Current Eligibility is still based on CYCLE 2 with possible regain from Progress Reports 3 and 32. As a reminder progress report grades can only allow you to regain eligibility, they do not cause you to lose eligibility. At this time, students should focus to make sure that their upcoming Cycle 3 grades are taken care of to maintain eligibility for the remainder of the year.

There was an adjustment to The Progress Report 32 date due to the bad weather dates, but this didn't affect the majority of students, only those still trying to regain.

BELOW IS REPEATED INFORMATION

All other grading periods, the 9 week grade is the only one that can cause a student to lose eligibility. Their 3 week grade and 6 week grades can allow them regain IF they are passing ALL classes (not just the one they may have failed that caused the loss of eligibility). Just like the verification to lose, this grade check is a week prior to them actually regaining eligibility.

3/7/2023 SHS Band UIL Preview Concert @ SHS (all wind and percussion)

Concert will begin at 6:30 PM; Reminder Clear Bag Policy will be in effect

3/22/23 Winterguard Showcase at GHS; Come out and support both groups at this local performance opportunity. Details will be shared when schedule is available.
