Kindergarten students read "The Gingerbread Man" by Jim Aylesworth and even decorated their very own Gingerbread Man! They were so excited to eat him, but he ran away before they had the chance! Students are having fun seeing all the locations where the Gingerbread Man is turning up and keeping track of his travels!

The Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the Wisconsin Sports Network High School Basketball Awards -- congratulations to Ella Chambers (Defense and Point Guard), Joah Filardo (Shooter and Wing), Mallory Lindsey (Shooter), and Blair Watters (Wing) for being named to the Pre-Season Watch List! These awards are presented annually to deserving senior student-athletes selected to represent one of five categories: point guard, wing, post, defense, and shooter. Those lists will be trimmed to 15 semi-finalists for each position halfway through the year, with five finalists to be selected at the outset of the playoffs. Join the middle/high school choirs and bands for their Winter Concert Monday, December 13 at 7 pm in the middle/high school gym! Masks will be recommended and families are asked to sit together and social distance between other families. A recording of the concert will be shared online after.

The annual School Board Candidate Info Night will be on Wednesday, December 15th at 5:30 pm at 705 Ross Street in the Board Room. If you are interested in finding out more about being a board member, this would be a night to have your questions answered. Mineral Point Wrestling will induct its 2021-22 honorees to the Allen E. Bauman Wrestling Hall of Fame Friday, December 17 at the home match vs. Fennimore. Congrats to Mike Lawinger & Dylan Schroeder!

Mineral Point and Fennimore are teaming up to Wrestle for a Cause Friday, December 17! Lexi Kinch, a Senior Wrestling Cheerleader for #PointerNation, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. All proceeds from the shirt order will be given to cancer research in Lexi's name. Come out to support on the 17th!

Students are getting excited to share their musical talents with you. Here is some important information about the Elementary Winter Concert.

Tuesday, December 21st - High School Gym

10:00 am - Morning 4K & Grades K-2

1:30 pm - Afternoon 4K & Grades 3-5

Here are some of the steps we are taking to keep this a safe, joyful, concert:

• We are limiting the audience to 4 adults per student household. If a family has more than one child performing, they are asked to still limit their attendance to 4 adults. If a child has parents at different addresses, each may bring up to 4 adults. Any children that need to accompany parents/caregivers are not included in the 4 person count. We are asking to limit the audience to these guests- it is not open to community members who are not part of the 4 person/household count.

• With a reduced audience size, we encourage social distancing. We ask that families sit together and try to offer social distancing between other families.

A few students here at Mineral Point High School have created a business called the MP STORE in their 2nd hour Industrial Enterprise Class. They have put a lot of time and effort into creating a successful company in a short amount of time. They customize products using advanced technology such as a laser engraver, vinyl cutter, and sublimation. They have a long list of products that are available to be customized upon your request. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the CDC recommend that anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 or who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 be tested. The test for COVID-19 involves a quick swab of the inside of the nose. The school is working with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on providing rapid antigen and PCR tests in school. If you would like to have the option for your child to get a PCR or antigen test at school, they must bring the attached consent form signed by a parent/guardian if they are under 18 years old. You would be contacted before any testing would occur and only if indicated per school policy. This form is being distributed now, to be collected in advance so that in the event your child needs to be tested, we would not have to wait for the form to be returned during the middle of a work or school day.
