Weekly Update ~ March 14, 2016
Curriculum Corner
Parents,
We emailed information last Tuesday about the BOE-approved laptop take-home program for students in grades 6-8. This information was also posted on the website, and we provided handouts during conferences.
If you’d like to participate, we ask that you fill out our 2-question survey by Wednesday of this week. This will allow us time to order necessary materials before Spring Break.
Information about the laptop take-home program can be found at the links below:

You Be the Chemist Challenge
Congratulations to 8th grader Nathan John, 7th grader Desi Nainar, and 6th graders Brandon LaCrosse and Nikhil Patel on their performance at the Regional You Be the Chemist Challenge. All four made it into the top ten. Brandon LaCrosse made it all the way to the semifinals, and Nikhil Patel made it to the final round. In the end, after twelve playoff questions, Nikhil took second place and earned a spot at the state competition in Romeoville.
March Book Madness
We started with the top 16 books checked out to name our Sweet 16. 4th-8th grade students voted for their favorite books last week to determine the Elite 8. This week's voting will decide the Final 4. Students are encouraged to discuss the books and vote during homeroom and study hall. The Champion will be named on Friday, April 1.

This $1000 scholarship is open to graduating Libertyville High School Seniors who are Oak Grove Alumni. Applications are available in the LHS Career Resource Center and responses are due by March 16, 2016. The scholarship will be presented at the LHS Awards ceremony in May.
