Senior Athletic Awards presented on May 23
TRIPLE THREAT AWARD
The Triple Threat Award is given to recognize those athletes that have put the time, energy and commitment to 3 or more different sports at Clawson High School during their Senior Year. With specialization of sports starting at younger ages, the number of multi-sport athletes across the nation has decreased dramatically over the past few years. Our number of multi-sport athletes continues to rise at CHS, and we feel it is important to honor the student-athletes’ versatility and dedication to Clawson Athletics. The Class of 2023 continues the trend of 3-sport athletes as there are 10 inductees to the Triple Threat Club from the Class of 2023. The newest members of the Triple Threat Club are:
Devan Bosnic - soccer, football, basketball
Owen Chapman - football, wrestling, baseball
Kyle Gougeon - soccer, basketball, golf
Katie Kage - volleyball, basketball, soccer
Ivan Louris - football, basketball, track
Kenzie McMillan - golf, basketball, softball, flag football
MaKayla Richardson - basketball, tennis, track, flag football
Anna Smith - volleyball, basketball, soccer
Jack Smith - football, wrestling, track and field
Gabe Stevens - cross country, basketball, track and field
"TEAMMATE OF THE YEAR" in honor of Heather Marvin Kruczynski
The “Teammate of the Year” award is in honor of 1997 graduate Heather Marvin Kruczynski and represents the 2023 Senior who was that ultimate teammate - just like Heather. Skilled in the sport but modest and respectful in every situation - someone who sacrificed for the good of her team. This Senior is talented, friendly, and incredibly humble as a person and athlete - and she was the ultimate teammate and fan of every Clawson sport this year. The third annual “Teammate of the Year” award goes to Faith Attar.
TROJAN LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (TLC)
The Trojan Leadership Council (TLC) was created to help build leaders in our student-athletes. We strive to improve leadership skills while helping to enhance the energy and enthusiasm into Clawson Athletics. Members help coordinate spirit events and sportsmanship activities, update social media and volunteer at home events, as well as being a servant leader within our community in our elementary schools. This year TLC built leaders through our book study - The Team Captain's Leadership Manual - and servant leadership where student-athletes were encouraged to volunteer their time and expect nothing in return. These 20 seniors have helped create the best culture possible for CHS Athletics!
2023 TLC Graduates are: Faith Attar, Devan Bosnic, Cameron Brewster, Jesse Custer, Laney DeKorte, Emma Dibble, Carter Ervin, Kyle Gougeon, Tyler Harvill, Katie Kage, Lizzie Larkin, Gloria Lock, Jude Maurer, Devin McCullough, Kenzie McMillan, Ava Richards, Brooke Sarvello, Anna Smith, Caley Thomas, Molly Wilson
ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
This year’s Male Athlete of the Year is a 3-sport athlete and a true competitor. I am so proud of the growth I saw from his freshmen year to now. He runs circles around the defense on the soccer field, improved his game on the hardwood so much that other teams had to guard him all over the court his senior year and he can drive with the best of them on the links. This year’s male Clawson High School Athlete of the Year is: Kyle Gougeon
This year’s Female Athlete of the Year is a 4-sport athlete and the leader every coach hopes for. She’s the team mom on every team she is a part of because of her genuine personality and kindness. She’s talented, super friendly and will do anything to help her team win. Chipping from the fairway, hitting open threes on the basketball court or blocking pitches in the dirt and throwing runners out at second on the diamond are just a few of the things you see her do - This year’s female Clawson High School Athlete of the Year is: Kenzie McMillan
