Reading News at RLM with Mrs.Enos:
- DIBELS:
- Every year the academic proficiency of students in grades K-3 is assessed using a variety of tools to monitor students’ learning and progress in all areas of development. Assessments take place both in and out of the classroom. Our district adopted one new assessment program this year called DIBELS to help us examine how your child is learning important reading skills.
- A standardized and nationally used tool, DIBELS is made up of six, short individual tests to assess these skills. Because each test focuses on a different reading skill, your child will complete a mix of DIBELS tests depending on his/her grade level. Each test only takes one minute to complete because the tests are used as indicators. Much like using a thermometer to take a child's temperature as an indicator of overall health, each test is an indicator of how well a child is learning a particular reading skill. The scores tell us whether a child is likely to be on track for learning to read or whether a child may need additional support in his/her learning. Additionally, teachers developed and adjusted their instruction to better meet the needs of all of our students. The results we obtained will continue to help us plan interventions and identify students who are at risk for reading difficulty and make decisions about how well our school's overall reading programs are working. DIBELS is not used to grade your child.
- Scores and ability levels were sent home this week as a means to keep you informed of your child’s progress. Please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Enos, our Reading Specialist with any questions.
- Summer Reading:
- There is no specific assignments or activity this year for summer reading. Rather, practice activities and stories with be sent home on Monday to better meet the needs of all students by fostering a love for reading through routine practice and commitment. Current K-2 families, be on the lookout for these helpful resources on Monday!
- RLM Student Council:
- Box Tops for Education:
- As of today, we have raised over $250! That is our best collection since the program transitioned to the digital platform. THANK YOU and keep up the great work!
- Please continue to scan any and all shopping receipts throughout the summer! Download the app and remember to scan all of your PAPER and DIGITAL receipts from ANY grocery store (Target, Staples, CVS, Walmart, BJ's Wholesale Club, and more)! Spread the word with your families, too.
- Win a Ride to School in a Fire Truck:
- Our fundraiser was a huge success! We raised $1,838 from raffling off a ride to school in a firetruck. The money was raised to support our school store and the Social-Emotional Learning Committee to better our school. Mrs. Chmielinski was the lucky one to pull the winning ticket. - The lucky winner was Pedro Nunes. Congratulations Pedro! We are so happy for you! Pedro got to invite his friend Liam along for the ride. The smiles in the pictures tell you just how great their morning was!

Grade 3 Morning Broadcasters!
From the School Nurse
Just a reminder, if your child has medication in the health office that needs to be taken home at the end of the school year, please make arrangements with me to come in and pick it up. Children are not allowed to transport medication home.
Physical Examinations Incoming 4th grade students
Your son/daughter is scheduled to have a school health examination for the next school year. Massachusetts’s law requires a health examination four times in a student’s school life. These exams are done upon entrance to kindergarten, fourth, seventh and tenth grades. Because your child’s physician has a comprehensive knowledge of your child’s health, we recommend that he/she perform the examination.
The exam forms are available on the school website at www.wbridgewaterschools.com (click on Health Services) or your physician may use his/her own form. The form should be completed and returned to the school nurse at the Howard School before the end of December 2023.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (508) 894-1240 or Margaret Linksey at (508) 894-1250.
