Eccles Summer Update
August 24, 2023

Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
One more week of summer! Staff is coming back next week and bond projects are wrapping up. The excitement is really building.
We understand that finding out your child’s teacher is one of the great thrills of summer. It is actually a thrill of ours to build classroom communities that will work together to reach goals as a group, and for individual students. A considerable amount of time was put into developing class placement to best support each child and create balanced classroom communities. Due to the effort and thought that went into the complex process of creating class lists and teacher assignments, it is not our intent to change any placements.
To view your child’s class placement, login to ParentVUE. Remember to use the “forgot password” link if needed. Once you are logged in, be sure to select which student profile you want to access (if you have more than one). Then select the “Student Info” tab on the left-hand side. On this page you will be able to see your child’s Homeroom Teacher.
Your child’s teacher looks forward to meeting you and your student at our Meet and Greet on August 31 from 4:00-5:30. We have a wonderful year ahead of us and we can’t wait to welcome your family.
Kelly

Class Placements
Teacher assignments for this year are now available to view by logging into ParentVUE*. Once you are logged in, be sure to select which student profile you want to access (if you have more than one). Then select the “Student Info” tab on the left-hand side. On this page you will be able to see your child’s Homeroom Teacher.
Our goal is to create balanced learning communities for our students and we work very hard to do this with the input of classroom teachers, classified staff, and specialists. There are many factors to consider when creating balanced classroom communities. Requests to be with particular friends or with a specific teacher create imbalances that can harm a classroom community. Please refrain from making such requests and instead work with your student to embrace a new learning experience and an opportunity to make new friends.
*Kindergarten placements will be finalized by the end of the first week of school. See Kindergarten update below for more details. If you have questions or need assistance accessing your ParentVUE account, please contact our office at eccles-office@canby.k12.or.us.
Student Enrollment & Verification
We need your help! To start out each new year, families need to verify their student’s re-enrollment for the coming school year, which includes making sure your information is up to date. Keeping your family's information up to date is crucial to receiving timely communication from Eccles and the Canby School District, and ensures that you can be contacted in case of an emergency.
This is done by logging into ParentVUE. Click the ‘Family Updates and New Student Enrollment’ link in the right hand corner of the page, and it will help guide you through the necessary steps. Please make sure you are seeing the current ‘2023-2024’ school year listed.
These are some of the important items to make sure you update:
- Home address
- Phone numbers
- Emergency contacts
- Medication or any new illness
- Transportation plans
If you have any questions, need your ParentVUE activation key, or need assistance resetting your password, please contact our Registrar, Denise Sanchez Dominguez, by calling the office or email denise.sanchez@canby.k12.or.us.
After-school Childcare Program
For the 2023-2024 school year, we will continue to offer an after-school child care program at two district schools: Knight Elementary and Trost Elementary. Students from Eccles and Ninety-One school will attend the program at Knight Elementary. Students from Carus and Lee Elementary will have potential busing support to attend the program at Trost Elementary. Families will need to pick up their students at either Trost or Knight Elementary.
We will offer care from 2:30-4:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. Wednesdays) at the rate of $12 per day. Families can continue to choose full-time or part-time (M, W, F or T, TH) care.
Please complete this Google Form to register, as well as provide a $50 cash or check deposit to the Canby School District office, 1130 S Ivy St. Canby, OR 97013.
2023-24 School Supplies
For the 2023-2024 school year, we ask families to partner with us to ensure we have school supplies for students in the Canby School District. This is an adjustment from the previous few school years. Attached, you’ll find a list of supplies by grade level, which is the same for all Canby elementary schools. We encourage families to prioritize a full-sized backpack, water bottle, and earbuds for your student. If you need assistance purchasing supplies, please contact the school.
