Q1 Color Wheel Project
For my Q1 art project, I had to create an artistic representational piece that is centered around a color wheel. For my 1st thoughts of what to make I wanted to make an edgy, trippy, psychedelic color wheel art piece, but when I drew the art piece I realized that it would be too much work and take up too much time. I wanted to make something simplistic, yet complex, I didn't want anything too mediocre, but extravagant to the eyes. So i started coming up with another idea for a painting. I wanted to do something very authentic, and representational, at that moment I wanted to paint a picture of a woman wearing a khimar with the color wheel being her face. I wanted to use a beautiful Muslimah as a reference for the picture, so I asked my sister if I could draw a picture of her I found on Instagram. She was one of my main inspirations for the portrait, what also inspired me was a color wheel of a skull I had seen on google, which gave me the idea of doing a face. The reason why I called it the beauty beneath the scarf, is because I wanted to create a picture showing how beautiful Muslim women can be despite wearing over garments and being fully covered. So I gave it the name it has because, it shows that all women are beautiful despite, who or what they are whether it's, religion, race, size, and age. That muslim women can be beautiful to despite them wearing khimars. It took a long time to finally figure how I wanted the picture to look but it's finally results came out satisfying to the eye.
Q2 Mixed Media Project
For my Q2 project I had created a mixed media project, combining three different forms of art. Why I choose to do this project is for the simple reason that it stuck out to me the most, I was inspired by the different Japanese forms of mixed media. How I came up with the idea of my art piece was I wanted to create something that combined, painting, comic book art, psychedelic art and something physical that represents art and beauty. That was my general Idea but it was still hard to figure out on how I would bring it together for it to look pleasant and immaculate to the eye. I went along with my Idea painting a yellow, purple and orange background, drawing a skull in black and white as a form of the comic book art to add to the painting, and then after that along the way things came to me and I was adding other physical portions. Creating my art piece I realized I wanted my art piece to represents life and death, being connected to art. Each physical piece representing life and death but being a form and tool of art. My art piece represents that life is a beautiful form of art that can be created and erased, such as life being creating and taken away, but life will always remain beautiful. The more life expands the more beauty that is created, when a life is created another one is taken away. There are new beautiful art pieces created everyday that represents life, and there are others that are eventually taken away or discarded, such as life not lasting long. This art piece is important to me because when I see life I sometimes see the very art within it. The eraser represents life being erased, the black pencil is that death is created, and the regular pencil represents that life is created, the rubber bands represent the expansion of life, the skull and blood also represent death. The butterfly represents the beauty of life, and so does the flower, I wrote life in Arabic, because life is universal in all forms of language. The orange, purple and yellow represent that life is also colorful and comes into many colors, and they are an example of that. Color is a form of beauty, art, and color comes from life.
Q3 Model Project
For my Q3 art project i created a sculpture combining a shoe clay, screws, feathers, and marker. The point and idea if my project was to create something I like or bring something I love to life. I love wearing converses so I came up with the idea of personifying one of my old shows giving it eyes a mouth and feathers. The sculpture represents many things for one skateboarding the feathers represent how I fly through the air when i do tricks and the eyes and the mouth are my shoe and feet coming to life whenever i do. I had a different idea for the project i wanted to give it hands a sculpted mouth, and horns to represent that my fear are monstrous when I'm skateboarding but I didn't use enough of my time to combine the sculpted hands and horn with the show. Which were sculpted out of clay along with the eyes that were already painted and done. I call the art piece “The monster in my converses”.
My growth as an Artist
- That art is not about you make it its about what you make it to be, theirs no right or wrong way to create or do art. Art is creative and beautiful by all means, and that art can be anything.
- That my own creativity can always change and be different and that it does not have to look one way but multiple ways.
