Thank you to everyone who came out to support our school at the GQES Fall Festival! There were tons of fun games to play, chances to dunk Mr. Disseler in the dunking booth, yummy treats to win at the Cake Walk, spooky things to check out in the Spooky Science Lab, and memories captured at the Photo Booth. This fundraiser greatly benefitted our playground remodel project!
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students have already been working very hard in the Achieve3000 program this school year. This program is designed to provide articles at the student's Lexile level, allowing full classes of students to read grade-level appropriate content at a variety of reading levels.
Each month, students are challenged to read between 8 and 10 articles and score a 75% or higher on their first attempt on the article comprehension questions. If students complete the challenge, they are invited to a reward movie in the auditorium at the end of that month. So far, this has been a huge success! (Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students will join in on the rewards starting December 2016 by looking at their usage on our Istation reading program.)
Achieve Winter Break Challenge
Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades who read 3 articles, complete all 5 steps, and score 75% or higher on the first Activity attempt will receive a special treat from Ms. Hinson when we return to school in January. Articles completed between December 22 and January 3 will be eligible towards this reward. Happy Reading!
