eLearning Message to Parents

Frisco ISD School’s campus is closed to normal operations this week due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19. All in-person classes have been suspended and replaced with virtual instruction and other alternative learning options. Students will participate in an e-Learning day starting on Tuesday, March 17th until Friday, March 20th. Links to teacher assignments will be available on the school’s website starting on Tuesday, March 17th after 9:00 a.m. Please note that all after-school activities are canceled during this time.

Here are suggestions for parents to make their child’s e-Learning successful:

Have a dedicated time that a computer or device is available for students.
Set-up a daily schedule for your kids to have dedicated school time preferably during teacher virtual office hours 9-11 or 1-3. This time is where students/parents can email teachers for help and questions. Students would also have the time to group chat or live zoom/google chat with a teacher if needed. Here is a sample schedule your student might follow.

Accessing eLearning Lessons & Assignments

To access your student's lessons and assignments for this week, please visit the Vandeventer Website. Once you have accessed our website, please follow these instructions:

Find the News Section on the homepage
Click on the eLearning tab (logo pictured above)
Find your student's teachers and click on their name
Follow the instructions provided for each day of learning

eLearning Student Responsibilities

All students should do the following during this week of e-Learning:

Check the campus home page for access to teacher lesson plans (see instruction above)
Click on the activities, lessons, and/or assignments that teachers have linked in their lesson plan via the eLearning tab on the campus website
Check school email for additional information
Complete the assignments by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 20th
Be ready to discuss the lessons and activities on Monday, March 23rd

Reach out to your teachers during their virtual office hours, Tuesday-Friday, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Teacher email addresses may be found on the Vandeventer Staff Page.

We are looking for volunteers to donate their time and talents to the Vandeventer PTA Board. This is a great chance to meet other parents, get to know the Vandeventer staff and faculty, and let us show you what makes our school the best middle school in Frisco!

The elected PTA Executive Board positions are:

President – Organizes and coordinates the overall activities of the association to reach its goals. Oversees all functions and programs of the VMS PTA.

1st VP Membership – Responsible for the recruitment of PTA membership, maintains existing membership, assists the president.

2nd VP/Ways and Means/Fundraising – Coordinates, oversees, and reports on the fundraising activities of the association.

Secretary – Maintains a written record of the activities of the association.

Treasurer – Maintains the financial records of the association.

If you are interested in serving on the Vandeventer Middle School PTA Executive Board during the 2020-2021 school year, please contact the Nominating Committee Chair at nakarapurkar@gmail.com by March 31, 2020. After the election of the Executive officers in April, the remaining Board/Chair positions will be filled.
