Mighty Hawk Band
Week 14 November 18th-November 23rd
Marching Band Recap
What an incredible season for the 2024 Mighty Hawk Marching Band! The band staff is so incredibly proud of all the hard work the students put into our 2024 production. It was awesome to see all of the hard work pay off as our students earned the first appearance at the UIL Area C 6A Marching Contest finals in school history! This is a significant milestone in our organization's history, and all of our students are to be commended for the role they played in accomplishing this goal!
A very big thank you to all of our parent volunteers who have been integral to the success of our students this fall. Words cannot express the gratitude that the band staff has for all of your dedication and the love that you pour into the students on a daily basis. The level of care that our students receive is second to none thanks to all of your efforts. Please know that you are grtely appreciated!
If you were not able to see the band at our final performances of the 2024 Field Production "Thorns", you can check out the videos below. It is hard to believe that the marching season has come to an end, however there are lots of performances left this school year. We hope to see you at our upcoming concerts and festivals!

Thanksgiving Break November 25th through November 30th
Next week will be Rockwall ISD Thanksgiving Break. We are grateful for our students to be able to get a week off from their busy school schedule, and look foward to having them return to us well rested and ready to finish the Fall 2024 Semester on a high note! The band staff would like to offer some reminders to our students that will help ensure their musical success when they return to school on Monday, December 2nd.
- All brass and woodwind students need to take their instrument home over the Thanksgiving break. This is especially important for woodwind instruments, as the school building will be unoccupied during the break and significant temperature shifts within the building is not good for instruments.
- Your student should spend at least a little bit of time playing their instrument daily. A good fundamental routine that lasts 20-25 minutes will be sufficient to keep their chops in shape for the following week.
- TMEA High School All Region Phase 1 will take place the week we return to campus. This is a significant event for our 10th-12th grade students, and students who practice their audition etudes over the break will have a higher probability of a successful audition.
- Our Winter Concert will take place on December 19th. Students should designate some practice time to any excerpts from their concert music they find challenging.
All of these things can be accomplished within an hour of practice, leaving lots of remaining time to rest and enjoy the holiday with their friends and family. We hope that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate the holiday surrounded by the people you love, and look forward to seeing you all on December 2nd.

The MHB Spring Uniform Fittings will be conducted the week of December 10th through 13th. Fittings will take place between 3:15 and 7:00 PM and should only take 15-20 minutes per student. MHB Family Holiday Potluck Party
Monday, December 16th 6:00-8:00 PM
The annual MHB Family Holiday Potluck party will be held in the RHHS cafeterial on Monday, December 16th. This is one of our favorite events of the year. We will get together to share a meal, play games, and enjoy some holiday cheer!
This event is open to all current band students (9th-12th grades) and their family members. Dress in festive holiday attire, and come join us for a fun evening. The Mighty Hawk Band Boosters will send out information regarding items to bring for the potluck in the near future. We look forward to seeing there!
MHB Winter Concert
Thursday, December 19th
The 2024 Mighty Hawk Band Winter Concert will be taking place on Thursday, December 19th. This will be our final performance of the 2024 Fall Semester, and is one of the most enjoyable events of the year. The concert will feature all of our performing ensembles (5 Concert Bands plus Jazz Ensemble). Full logistics will be made available after the Thanksgiving Break.
The Mighty Hawk Band dress code tradition for the Winter Concert will be Festive Holiday attire. Think christmas sweaters, elf ears, santa hats, etc. If your student would prefer to wear standard dress clothes, that is perfectly fine as well (business casual should be the minimum standard for a formal concert. Dress slacks, shirts with buttons, nice shoes, etc.)
Be on the lookout for more details as the event date draws closer. We look forward to seeing you there!

Remind Classes
The Mighty Hawk Band uses Remind as our quick message system for students and parents. Some uses include reminders about important rehearsals events, return times from trips, etc.
The band staff has archived class codes from previous years (with the exception of percussion), and created new classes for the upcoming school year.
Please take a moment to visit the link below that corresponds with your current placement for the Fall '24 semester, and sign up for the Remind for your class. We encourage both students and parents to sign up for the Remind classes.
