Dr. Jeff Flanigan, who has served as the Principal of the STEM Academy at Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas for the past 7 years has been named the Principal at George Junior High.
Dr. Jared Cleveland made the announcement saying: "His rich experience in developing the academy model at Jonesboro High will greatly support George JH as a feeder to Springdale High School. Dr. Flanigan is a great hands-on instructional leader, relationship builder, strategic thinker, and master communicator."
Dr. Flanigan said “ I would like to thank Dr. Cleveland and his leadership team for believing in me. I've known him for a long time and I am excited to get to work with him and to learn from him. It is an honor to be valued so highly by such great people in such a great district. George Junior High School is already a burgeoning school and I am looking forward to taking the baton from Mrs. Eads and helping to continue that growth with the great faculty and staff that has been assembled."
The Magnolia, Arkansas native, 1995 Magnolia High School Honor Graduate, and 1999 BSE graduate of the University of Arkansas is married to Korillene Flanigan, who has been the Assistant Principal at the Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies Magnet School in Jonesboro, Arkansas for the past 7 years. They are proud parents to three daughters, Teah (27), Emirra (19), and Elise (17), and three sons, 18-year-old twins, Jaden and Jordan and Jackson (8). Jeff holds Master’s Degrees in Teaching and Educational Leadership. On December 13, 2014, he received a Doctorate from Harding University. He has been the Pastor of the Carter Temple CME Church in Blytheville, Arkansas for the past 8 years. From 2008 to 2012, he served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach and Dean of Students at Ashdown High School. From 2012-2014 he was the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Blytheville High School in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Dr. Flanigan said: "As a leader, I feel the most important aspect of my job is relationship building. Relationships based on trust and mutual respect are strong. I'm excited to start the process of building strong, lasting relationships with all of the GJHS stakeholders. I will be approachable, available and accessible to students, teachers, parents, and anyone else interested in helping GJHS grow. I'm blessed beyond measure for the opportunity to be the new principal at GJHS."
Dr. Flanigan will begin his new role at George Junior High on July 1.
