From the Nurse
Illness
We have been seeing an increased number of nurse visits this week for GI symptoms, sore throats, and common cold symptoms. Please encourage your children to go to bed early, stay hydrated (send a refillable water bottle to school each day), and wash hands frequently. Also, please remember the return to school policy available on the mpsd website (click on link below to view):
In particular, please remember the 24-hour rule for fevers over 100 degrees, vomiting, diarrhea, and contagious diseases that need antibiotics:
Guidelines to keep your child home from school:
When your child has a communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis that has not been treated for at least 24 hours with antibiotic medication
When your child has had a fever of 100 degrees or greater within the past 24 hours without fever- reducing medication (tylenol or motrin)
When your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours
Thank you for your adherence to these guidelines to help keep South River School safe and healthy! If you ever have any questions, please reach out to the nurse.
Have a great weekend!

Readers should not...

Taking A Closer Look At Anxiety
Anxiety is increasing among school aged children and often goes misunderstood or unnoticed. It can impact a student’s ability to perform optimally in the school and community environment. To support students with anxiety, we need to understand it ourselves. During this workshop you will learn about the different types of anxiety, how they impact a child’s performance and useful strategies to use and consider when raising a child with anxiety.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and light refreshments.
* If you require an interpreter, please note it on your registration no later than 2/12/2024
