EY on the World - Elinor's news
Winter 2020-2021
I live such an interesting life. I have important stuff to do - things of eternal value, fun friends, busy nephews next door, a rural setting that changes and surprises every day, birds and insect noises add texture to the wind that blows through the trees. The breezes also bring me tell-tale changing odors as they pass trees, flowers, fields, chimneys. They tell me what season it is and what is coming. The clouds do, too, and I have a broad view of them.
I also have an easy way of connecting with you. What could be better? If you send a Christmas letter, I'll read it with interest.
Early stage of upgrading the landscaping around my "suite."
The new walkway to my front door. Not quite finished in this photo.
Ready for Spring to do its thing.
As for that important stuff I mentioned, keep reading.
Visiting partner churches.
One speaking engagement in Spring had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. However, since July, three smaller churches worked out how to make it happen. All have backed me since before or early in my years in Papua. SUCH good friends. It was wonderful to reconnect that way and share with them the joy of what the Lord is doing in this crazy world. Sharing God's passion for His Kingdom pumps me up. I love doing it and if I have one or two months between each time, I can do it. Hint: I'm open to invitations. It's a joy.
Mission Chat
I love providing a way for future missionaries to find and share with their others of the same aim. Most of the six who come to our informal chats didn't know each other before. How they support each other warms my heart. They come with insights, questions, and open souls. We meet at my house one Sunday afternoon a month. Young teens to twenties to thirtyish -- if you think God might want you to follow the Great Commission full-time, we have room for you, and you have a uniqueness we need.
Great Commission Kids
Have you heard about the Uyghur people of Northwest China and neighboring counties? Many are imprisoned in Chinese prison factories for being Uyghur and Muslim. When you buy something with a "Made in China" label, would you pray for the person who made it? Perhaps a prisoner. Certainly one who needs to hear the truth about Christ. Pray that they will.
Issue #61 of GC Kids shows kids this need of the Uyghurs. us.worldteam.org/gc-kids To subscribe to mailed copies of each four-a-year issue send me each child's name and address. Or your own. It's FREE. Honest. GCKids@worldteam.org
Running on Broken Legs (memoir)
I'm sending my query letters and proposals to literary agents and publishers now. I got my first query rejection, so I'm now in the "real" authors club. :-) Yay! I know that God has the right publisher out there. Please pray I'll find them. Soon.
If You are Inclined to Pray...
I sprinkled prayer suggestions through this letter. If you are inclined to pray, take note of those and find others in my news.
AND FINALLY...
"This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace." Colossians 1:16, (New Living Translation). Do you daily take part in this? THINK ABOUT IT!
