Bernardo Parent Bulletin #11

We have a Bernardo Family, the Fischers, whose daughter Margot is a student here. The Fischer's 2-year old daughter Maisie was recently diagnosed with leukemia. As parents, it's our worst nightmare to think of something so devastating affecting any of our kids and that all of our hearts go out to the Fischers during this challenging time. Thankfully, they have a lot of amazing support from the community as well as Bernardo.

We are excited to announce that beginning this week, our library will be open for students and families on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 7:30-7:55. This will provide an additional opportunity for students to check out books from our school library.

We will open up the side entrance library door that is located just outside of our front office. Siblings are welcome to join but please know the focus of this opening is for more access for books and not to provide a place for students to hang out.

Beginning this Monday, October 10, we will be implementing the following changes to our morning breakfast program:

• All gates will not open until 7:40. Any students who arrive prior to 7:40 will wait outside of their entrance gate and can go up to get breakfast once the gates open.

• Our kindergarten students will no longer eat breakfast together as a class after school begins. If kindergarten students want breakfast, they can go to the lunch tables beginning at 7:40. After eating, they will be dismissed to go to their playground to line up with their class.

• Our TK students will continue to eat breakfast as a class after school begins.

Our PTA is excited to kick-off our first fund-raiser of the year this Monday through October 17th. This fund-raiser will utilize Boon Supply, a company that offers useful, eco-friendly quality product. Bring out the entire family to our upcoming science night on October 21st from 6:30-8:00 in our multi-purpose room. There will be lots of hands-on science activities for the kids and adults centered around the theme of outer space.

We are looking for some parent volunteers to help with this event. If available, please email our PTA at theBernardoPTA@gmail.com.

Our Bernardo Yearbook Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 12 in the Library from 2:30-3:00! All Parents who are interested in helping with the Bernardo 2022-23 Yearbook are invited to come. We hope to have at least one parent volunteer for each grade level!
