Outbreaks of novel virus infections among people are always of public health concern. While the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers this to be a serious public health threat, based on current information, the immediate health risk from ­­­ to the general American public is considered low at this time. That said, we will continue to take proactive preparedness measures as more cases are likely to be identified in the United States.

Our school district is working closely with state and local health departments to review and update emergency preparation plans in the event of a pandemic. Our Operations Department continues to work diligently to ensure a cleanly environment for both students and staff. In the event of a confirmed case in the MSD of Warren Township, appropriate measures would be taken with the guidance of the health department.

At this time, the MSD Warren Township will monitor students using normal school procedures to assess symptoms. Patients with confirmed 2019-nCoV infection have reported mild to severe respiratory symptoms, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. We continue to encourage all student and staff to practice good heath hygiene to prevent the spread of any illness, including viruses. These steps include:

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

· If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick

· Stay home when you are sick – fever free for 24 hours without use of medication

· Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash

· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

Students with 7 or more absences will provide a doctor's excusal for each absence. Parents should send medical excusals to the classroom teachers when the student returns to school. Save the date of Friday March 6th at 6:00 pm at the Warren Central Fieldhouse for our annual 4th grade co-ed basketball tournament. Cheer your favorite elementary school to victory in this single elimination style tournament. Also witness your Principal/Dean in the featured free throw competition before the tournament begins. Grassy Creek is currently 4th grade reigning champion and we hope to regain the traveling trophy! Come cheer on the Prospectors! $5. per person at the door.

Cookies and Canvas is coming! Mrs. Shea hosts this unique event that features a creative arts project and cookie treats! This is first come first served until all slots are full so watch for flyers to come home with your student soon. Save the date of April 17th 6 to 7:30 pm.

Next PTA meeting of the school year will be at 6 pm at Grassy Creek on Thursday March 12, ALL are invited. It's from 6 pm to 7 pm.

The Indiana Pesticide Review Board has regulations that impact how school corporations may use pesticides on school grounds. MSD Warren Township follows these guidelines and we are inviting parents and guardians to join our Pesticide Notification Registry. By signing up for this registry, you will be notified via email at least 48 hours prior to a pesticide application at your child’s school, subject to certain exceptions. You will be invited to sign up for this notification each school year.

Grassy Creek is selling trash bags again this year as a fundraiser. These are quality bags suitable in size and strength for your trash needs and any yard work needs. These bags are twice as thick as the leading name brand and come in three different sizes. Each roll is $10. Choose from White - 15 gallon (tall kitchen), 65 bags per roll, Yellow - 39 gallon, 25 bags per roll, or Blue - 55 gallon (super size) 16 bags per roll. Proceeds go directly into our Student Activity Fund and will be used for the students where needed.Thank you in advance for your continued support!
