December
Principal Reminders
- The end of the 2nd Quarter is December 20th. Please take some time to review your child's grades with them and have discussions about any missing work. Most low grades are due to excessive absences and not making up their work.
- Please make sure that your contact information is correct and updated on Lumens. If it is not correct, please call the office.
- All students go outside for a break/recess either before or after lunch. You may want to remind your student to grab a jacket or sweatshirt to wear as the cooler temperatures set in this fall.
- Attendance at PJHS basketball games is a privilege. Students who are failing one or more classes will not be able to attend these games until they maintain passing grades.

Capturing Kids Hearts
This month's theme is RESPONSIBILITY. Responsibility is the willingness and ability to take ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions. We have a responsibility to our school, family, and community to be accountable for our choices and how they impact ourselves and others.
PJHS has been implementing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) through the Capturing Kids Hearts process. At the beginning of the year, all students worked together to create a Social Contract which is an agreement on behavior while in class. From there, students participate in a variety of discussions and activities during the week to build on not only this Social Contract but character traits. Our goal is to guide students to self-manage themselves both here in school and outside of school.
As part of this process, we would like to hear from you! Please complete this Parent Survey to provide feedback on this process.
December Events
Student Council Holiday Activities
Every Friday, Student Council is hosting a school-wide holiday activity. Last week was trivia and holiday accessories. Mrs. McKinney's 8th-grade homeroom won the schoolwide trivia game! Classes also decorated their doors to be judged by our cafeteria staff. Each grade level had a winner: 6th grade - Mrs. Perry, 7th grade - Mrs. Keeling, 8th -grade - Mrs. McKinney, Extra-staff - Mrs. Scherzer. Here is a quick video of everyone's door!
This Friday, students can wear their festive holiday sweaters and will play school-wide BINGO!
Pana Christmas Baskets
The Panther Den held a half-court shot contest last week to raise money to donate to the Pana Christmas. They will be collecting money this week as well.

2nd Quarter Incentive
On the 19th & 20th, we will be celebrating students who "Do the Right Thing". All students have had the opportunity to earn an invitation to a movie celebration by either making good choices, having excellent attendance, or achieving A's, B's, and C's in their core classes. If they have displayed two of these things, they get a free concession stand item. And students who have displayed all three this quarter will be VIP guests!
