Titan Families,
Thank you for showing your appreciation to our staff last week! Our educators enjoyed every card, gift, and kind act of gratitude. Also, thank you for getting out to vote. We appreciate your support all around! This week we shine light on our school nurse, Neda Miraki. On May 10th, we highlight the service of our instructional assistants (IAs). Please join me in also celebrating Ms. Julie Vogt, Ms. Mona Saadeddine, Ms. Esther Talley, Ms. Elise Verdiere, Ms. Helen Gulliford, Ms. Shelley Meyers, Ms. Travia Willis, Mr. Noah Dennis, Ms. Maria Propeza, Ms. Sharon Gammie, and Ms. Meredith Avirett. Please join me in celebrating their service, commitment, and care for our Titan Community through acts of gratitude as you can.
Here are a few reminders:
- If you have a 3rd; 4th; or 5th grader, today was the last day of their STAAR testing! Please celebrate their efforts and celebrate their year as we await results from the state.
- Be sure to complete enrollment verification for your Titan(s) who plan to attend school in our district and on our campus. Learn more here.
- Be sure to check your Titan(s) lunch balance and close out the year. There is a link at the end of this message. Our unpaid lunch balances have now grown! Please pay your child's balance as soon as possible.
- Be sure to read this newsletter as it supports you being engaged and in the know on our campus end of year AND beginning of the year events and plans.
We look forward to supporting, celebrating, and partnering with you to end our school year strong.
Take care and be well,
Dr. Amy Sharp

TITAN COMMUNITY NEWS
STAAR May 9th
River Place 3rd through 5th Graders will take the annual STAAR tests on the following dates:
May 9-- Math
May 10-11th- Make Up STAAR Testing
To support testing needs, we will have no visitors on campus on these dates including lunch visitors for all grade levels. Visitors are allowed on STAAR Make Up Testing dates, however.
Students benefit from getting a good night’s sleep before the test and having a healthy breakfast the morning of the assessment. Please encourage your child to take the upcoming STAAR seriously and to give their best effort. Students have the entire school day to take the test if needed, so they should be encouraged to take their time.
2023-2024 River Place ES Parent Input for Class Placement
If you have information you would like to have considered in your child’s placement, please complete and submit this form no later than May 15, 2023. Please limit your input to the way your child learns and any information we should consider as we create our classes for our Titans. Also, please note that all information shared is confidential and submitted electronically to the River Place Elementary administration team.
District’s Long-Range Planning Committee expands membership opportunities
Leander ISD is currently accepting applications to serve on the Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) only. The application is open to secondary students, parents and community members who are interested in partnering with the district in an advisory role to carry out the mission of the LRPC. You can view the LRPC Charter, mission and additional information on the LRPC webpage.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Friday, May 19. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee selection for service. However, if you are not selected to serve on the committee, outreach opportunities will continue to be available for community members to provide input, share ideas and participate in shared learning through community workshops and forums.
Selected applicants will be notified by Friday, May 26 with the first meeting being held on Tuesday, June 6 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Leander Extended Opportunity Center (LEO). Those new members will serve a two-year term, beginning in June of 2023. The application can be found on the LISD Committees webpage.
The application window for all other district committees to include the District-wide Educational Improvement Council (DWEIC), Community-Based Accountability System Committee (CBAS), Community Curriculum Advisory Committee (CCAC) and School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) will open on May 31 and remain open until August 18. Please watch for additional information in the Compass Newsletter and on the LISD Committees Webpage.
