Pride,
Happy Sunday! I hope you and your family had a great weekend. I know I can't speak for everyone, but for me, I left school on Friday exhausted. It dawned on me Friday during dismissal when many of the students were talking about being tired, that last week was our first 5-day in-person week that we've had in 2022.
Even though it was a long week, last week was great. I enjoyed presenting to our Board some of the updates and happenings of Riverwalk Academy. One of the biggest updates from last week was the presentation of Riverwalk Academy's Core Commitments.
I'd like to share these with all of our Pride.
- We commit to each other by upholding a productive environment through collaboration, preparation, organization, accountability and feedback.
- We commit to our students by treating them with respect and fairness so we can fully invest in each child based on their individual needs.
- We commit to our classroom community by achieving successful outcomes through mutual trust and maintaining positive regard for all.
- We commit to our school by maintaining an environment where we place the highest value in building positive relationships and maintaining a “we are glad to be here” mindset.
- We commit to our families and surrounding communities by viewing and respecting them as essential educational partners who are critical to the overall success of their children.
Our Core Commitments were developed to ensure that, as we look to the future, these values are maintained at the core of who we are, how we work, and what we want to model to the students whom we are fortunate to serve.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing some additional documents and graphics that help answers the question, "What is Riverwalk Academy?" Don't worry, we're not changing our mission and purpose. We're simply trying to articulate, in writing, who we are and what it is we do.
I hope each of you has a wonderful week and for one final time, here's a reminder that voting is still open for Hulafrog's Most Loved. Click here to vote for Riverwalk Academy as your most loved charter school.
In Strength and Blessings,
~Dr. Compton

COVID-Related
We're asking that our families assist us in managing everyone's status by using this form when your child shows symptoms, tests positive, is a close contact, or is a household close contact. The data shared with us is kept confidential. After completing this form, you'll receive an email or phone call from Nurse Donna to discuss your child's specific isolation/quarantining plan.

We've received a few questions about our dashboard, so I wanted to provide an explanation for everyone. Click here for an explanation of our COVID data.
School Lunches
Riverwalk Academy is a "bring your own lunch" school where students are encouraged to bring their own lunches. We do offer a fee-based lunch program that is not income-contingent. Our fee-based lunch program is provided by Golden Corral. For more information about this option, please click here.
Pride, if you haven't done so, please take a moment to check out our new and improved website. From the main page, you have immediate access to the latest news, and up to date calendar.

Hello everyone! Not much to report this week. Unfortunately I was out most of the week and will spend the next few weeks making up for it. As we all know, best laid plans are often just that, plans. We all hope to get everything on our to do lists done, but life intervenes. It’s a lesson for the students and a reminder to us adults to stay positive even through the delays, obstacles and boundaries life gives us. All the things will get done. All that matters is our attitude. And if something gets missed, how we react is also important. Modeling all of this for our students is one of our greatest challenges. Especially the last few years. Remember they may be resilient but they are still children, learning and growing.
Be patient with yourself and the children and our staff and spread positivity and love. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Have a great week and I look forward to returning healthy and catching up.
Please remember to read all the other great features of the newsletter.
Hugs,
Mrs. Carr

Hello Again!
I hope everyone had a nice weekend and that you all were able to get some rest to recharge for this week. I sometimes forget to rest, and I bet some of you do too. We get so caught up in the busy and don’t take the chance to slow down. A lot of times, if we forget to slow down, we can get overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious. Trust me, I’ve been there as it’s my natural inclination to always go, go, go. As we all are in the groove of the new semester racing towards the finish line to get to Summer, just remember to get the rest you need! We all need it to keep moving forward and to prevent burnout. Don’t forget, spring break will be here before we know it! Let’s see what we’ve got going on this week…
