From the Director's Desk
Andra Day wrote a song that is often encouraging and as I sit and prepare for another week of Shelter-In-Place I want to remind you we will "Rise Up". It's my hope and prayer that everyone is safe and healthy. Please continue the hard work and commitment to Our scholars. If you need anything to help support students with disabilities feel free to reach out to me or any of our district sped staff we are just an email away.

Continuity Plans
Dear Parent:
As you know, Cedar Hill ISD has suspended normal school operations through May 4, 2020, in response to the state-mandated school closures due to the current unforeseen public health emergency, specifically the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. We also are mindful of the special challenges faced by the parents of students with disabilities, for whom disruption in regular school schedules and services can be especially concerning.
In order to afford all students with educational opportunities during this exceptional circumstance, Cedar Hill ISD has been sharing resources with families to allow students to continue to engage in the learning process while at home. Additionally, staff from your child’s campus may contact you, or may already have contacted you, to discuss the continuity of instruction for your child through alternative methods, such as instructional telephone calls, online or virtual school programs, and other curriculum-based activities to the extent available. As you know, Cedar Hill ISD began providing educational services to all students on March 16, 2020, and we continue to develop our provision of educational services to students during the State mandated school closure.
We are also working diligently to draft a written Continuity Plan for your child reflecting the District’s proposed temporary services for your child during the State mandated school closure. The development of a written Continuity Plan for every student eligible for special education services in the District is a daunting task, and the provision of services to students is our first priority. Please be patient with us as we work to provide you with your child’s proposed Continuity Plan. As always, you may request an admission, review, and dismissal committee (“ARDC”) meeting to discuss your child’s services, including your child’s temporary services during the State mandated school closure.
Thank you in advance for partnering with us to identify how we can appropriately serve your child until normal school operations are again in place.
Sincerely,
Alva J. Walker, M.Ed
