Pecatonica #321 Curriculum Corner

Pecatonica Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 3 & 4, for Parent/Teacher Conferences.

PES Kindergarten classes held their annual ABC parade on October 19. Kinder students got to show off their letter knowledge through creating an alphabet vest and paraded outdoors for families and indoors for students and staff. They had such a great time building their foundation for future educational success.

On Thursday, October 13, The Pecatonica Fire Department came to PES to help our students learn about Fire Safety. Students got to meet Sparky the fire dog, view the ambulance and fire engine and even got to use the firehose! They completed the day by practicing a schoolwide fire drill.

The week of October 24-28 was Red Ribbon Week at PCMS. Red Ribbon Week is the Nation's largest and longest-running drug prevention campaign. During Red Ribbon Week, students dressed up according to the assigned day:

Monday, October 24: Bookmark/Reading Day (No Dress up)

Tuesday, October 25: Wear Red

Wednesday, October 26: Superhero Day

Thursday, October 27: Career Day

Friday, October 28: Scare Away Drugs (costumes)

PCMS is collecting items for local military men and women to ship on November 22. Items we are looking for include beef jerky, cards, hard candies (no chocolate), lip balm etc. You can drop off donations at PCMS or send it with a middle school student.

On Friday Nov. 11th, we will also be hosting a light luncheon for our local Veterans. If you have not reserved your spot, please contact Lisa Rosenkrans at our district office.

This is an award which recognizes the following outstanding qualities: leadership, a positive attitude toward learning, a desire for improvement, enthusiasm about school, being helpful to others, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Students are nominated for Student of the Month by one or more of the staff at Pecatonica High School. They may win this honor only once per year. Students were honored through announcements and received a certificate at the beginning of the Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 17.
