February Newsletter
Assistant Principal Avenue
February brings many events for our DeLeon students. Of course, there is a Party Day on Valentine's Day and the traditional 5th Grade Parade. There will also be days for our students to shine academically during the 3rd through 5th-grade benchmarks. Seeing the progress from the beginning of the year and how students can apply taught material is always exciting. Students who are on time and attend school without many absences perform dramatically better in class, and we can better access academic needs. Thank you for being so supportive! Go Dragons! I grew up in Cuero, Texas, and after graduating high school, I moved to College Station, where I attended Blinn College before transferring to Texas A&M. Still, after three years, my fiance and I decided to move to Victoria, Texas, to be closer to family and close friends. In the Spring of 2009, I got my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I subbed and worked as a Para for VISD for three years before starting my teaching career at Shields Elementary in 2012, spent one year at FW Gross, and returned to Shields. I have recently begun a new adventure this year as a Deleon Dragon. This is my 10th year teaching, and I love all the joys and challenges of education. My students have become my own children, and I love it! Education is my passion, and I thrive on learning as much as possible to help my students succeed! I am super excited to be a part of the Deleon Family! I am married and have two amazing children. My oldest is a sophomore and plays soccer for JV at East high school, and my youngest attends Kindergarten at Deleon. My hobbies are spending time with my family, reading, painting, fishing, and watching my son play soccer. Let's go, Dragons!

This is my 13th year in education and my 5th year at DeLeon as a Dragon. I have taught several grade levels, but 4th is my favorite. I am in LOVE with MATH and Baby Yoda! I am addicted to seeing my students grow. I teach my students that the struggle of learning is a natural part of life. Even though something is hard right now, later on, when you conquer it, you will see that it was just a stepping stone on your path. I often see “my kiddos” that have moved on and graduated in restaurants or working and think I got to be a good part of their life. Serving children in our community is a privilege, and I do it happily.
On the weekends, you’ll probably see me playing violin and singing in a local mariachi. I love my Hispanic culture and am honored to be part of the Mariachi Nuevo Victoria group that carries on that tradition. I have been playing for over 20 years and love to spread happiness at every event I am invited to. I am married to my awesome husband, that goes along with my crazy ideas, and have a child that we lovingly call JMan. We love to spend time together trying out new restaurants and watching movies and football. Go, Cowboys!

I was born and raised in Victoria, but I love to travel and see new places. Family means everything to me. I graduated from UHV in the wonderful year of 2020 and started my career as a virtual teacher. This is my third year as an educator, and I have been a Dragon all three years and LOVE it. I have a team of amazing ladies on my team, who I am thankful for, as they teach me new things every day. I am eager to learn new ways to teach your children and believe in having a warm, welcoming environment for your child to learn. I love each and every one of my little dragons. Outside of school, I enjoy watching my daughter become the best cheerleader she can be. She is on a level 5 competitive cheer team at Full Force, and we are always traveling. Watching her strive to be a leader on her team has been amazing. My favorite place to watch her cheer is DISNEY WORLD. It is seriously so magical. I truly believe I was blessed with the opportunity to work for DeLeon, and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

I have been a nurse for 16 years, with most of my nursing background in surgery. This is my fifth year at DeLeon, and I love working with children! I do love and care for all of these kiddos like my own. I also still work part-time at the hospital during the summers on some weekends to keep my clinical skills sharp and current. I graduated from Victoria College with my Associate's degree in 2007, then nearly ten years and two kids later, I went back to school to finish my Bachelor's degree. I graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016.
I grew up in Port O'Connor and love the beach, fishing, and being outdoors. My favorite hobby is gardening. I love all plants and flowers! I also love to cook and bake. I have been married for 16 years, and we are blessed with three amazing children. We love to travel and try new things.

I was born and raised in Victoria and am a 2004 Memorial High graduate. I then went on to Texas A&M for a year but decided to move back home and finish my degree here in Victoria with my family. I graduated from the University of Houston - Victoria with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and I'm certified in EC-4. I started my teaching career in 2nd grade, and throughout my 11 years of teaching, I have also worked in 3rd, 5th, and now 4th grades. I love what I do and have a passion for learning. This is my first year at Deleon, and I love being a Dragon. In my home life, I have an amazing husband and two girls I love spending time with. I love to travel and do crafting.
