iPad Check TOMORROW in Homeroom!
STUDENTS MUST BRING A CHARGED iPAD & CHARGER TO SCHOOL TOMORROW!
To make sure every student has access to a working device, from time to time we will conduct device checks. TOMORROW, Monday, October 16th, students will have their iPads inspected during homeroom. Devices should be free of writing & stickers and be in good working order. Students should also bring their chargers to school so teachers can make sure students have a way to recharge their devices at home each evening.
We prefer to have ALL students bring their device TOMORROW so we can check the majority of the iPads at one time, but if students forget their iPad or charger tomorrow, they have until Thursday of this week to have their iPads inspected by their homeroom teacher.
iPad Care Tips:
1. Have a designated area at home where the iPad can be plugged in overnight EACH NIGHT. This area is preferably away from the activity of the home and away from food, liquids, and pets. With a full charge, the iPad will last all day long which allows the student to leave their charger at home. This makes it less likely that the charger will be lost or stolen.
2. Make it a habit each night to plug in the device and a habit each morning to put it in the student backpack.
3. Remind students often that the iPad is for PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY; they should only use this device for school-related work. It is not for gaming, researching things they are curious about (unless for a school project), or other forms of entertainment. School staff can see EVERYTHING a student searches on their school-issued device, whether they are in school or at home, and many students have received consequences for inappropriate searches on school-issued devices.
4. If a device is missing or broken, students should tell a teacher or Ms. Deavers (our Technology Specialist) immediately. In many cases, we can ping a device to find it quickly or issue a new device if theirs is broken within one class period.
iPads, chargers, and keyboard cases can be costly to replace. Together, parents & teachers can hold students accountable and teach them device management skills that will last a lifetime!
**Check out the video tutorial below that students will watch this week as part of our "Digital Citizenship Week" lesson. The video discusses how to keep personal and professional technology separate, which is a very important life skill for students to master in the 21st century.
