Science Department
Chemistry Class
This week in chemistry class, Rowland students are analyzing the percent water content in popcorn and the percent sugar content in bubble gum. Evaporating the water from the popcorn allows for the calculation of water percentage per kernel. Extracting the sugar from the gum through mastication over time allows for the authentic calculation of sugar per serving
Biology of the Living Earth Honors Class
Students were studying natural selection and investigating if color and/or size of beetles (beans) can affect their survivability from bird predators (the students).
Volleyball Youth Camp
The Rowland Volleyball youth camp was a huge success! We had about 50 kids show up to improve their volleyball skills with the help of our coaching staff. We'd like to say a huge thank you to our community for the support!
Dance & Choir Competitions
Dance
The Dance Team attended the John Muir High School Dance Competition and Canyon High School Dance competitions. They competed in the Drill, Character/Show, and Hip-Hop divisions. They placed 1st place in all of the competitions in every category they compete in as well as having one of the judges' favorite awards at all competitions.
Choir
Choir has attended the Brea Olinda High School Competition, Esperanza High School Competition, and the Burbank High School Competition. They have placed 2nd in all of the competitions and have gotten high marks on music from all the judges.
For both Choir and Dance, this is the best season they have ever had. Congratulations Raiders!
