Rockfield Elementary
Notes from the Principal
This month we are excited to focus on Courage! One way to think about Courage is “choosing what is helpful, right, and kind even when it is hard or scary.”
One of our previous character traits students learned about was empathy. Our students clearly learned a lot about empathy because when the Kindness Warriors, a group of third graders seeking to spread kindness, organized a money drive to help a school in Florida that was impacted by the hurricane earlier this school year our students pooled together and raised over $1100! The money raised will help replace a sunshade for the school playground. We have such a generous school!
FORWARD testing for 3rd-5th graders is going on throughout April. Teachers will share the schedules with families so you may plan ahead. Please make sure students get a healthy meal and good night sleep each night.
4K and 5K Registration
Rockfield Families,
Our 4K and 5K registration is open. Please complete the online registration if you have an incoming 4K or 5K* for the 23/24 school year. Please note that proof of residency and immunization documents can be uploaded online, but birth certificates need to come into our office at Rockfield to be verified in person. For more information on GSD's 4K program, please click here.
Parents/guardians of children who reach their fifth birthday after September 1st but before October 15th may apply for early entrance to five year old kindergarten.
*Note: Online registration is just for new families entering the district. If you currently have a 4K student at Rockfield, you do NOT need to go through the entire online registration process for them to enter 5K in the 23/24 school year. You will need to "verify" their attendance for 5K during the summer months. Information on how to verify their attendance for the next school year will come via email (in July), and is done through Skyward.
More enrollment information and specifics can be found here. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the office at 262-628-7622.

Florentine Opera Coming to Rockfield on April 11
Rockfield has been gifted the wonderful experience!
Every year the Florentine tours a children's opera, making stops at local schools and community centers. Though they typically charge for these performances, a Florentine donor has generously offered to sponsor a performance at Rockfield Elementary this year.
The Baumgartner Studio Artists will perform an adaptation of Rossini's The Barber of Seville at our school. This fun and silly rendition of the classic opera is 45 minutes in length. After the show, they will offer an optional 10 minute Q&A session for the students to interact with their performers. The music will be performed in the original Italian, interspersed with dialogue in English. Students will get a chance to learn a few words in Italian and will get to participate in the story from their seats. The Florentine's The Barber of Seville adaptation is appropriate for students grades K-8th.
No School - Mid Spring Break - April 7th
Notes from the Health Room
Hello Rockfield families!
I Hope you all enjoy your spring break and have some much deserved rest and relaxation.
As we all return to school in April there are just a few ideas to keep in mind/remember. We are all pretty use to the forever changing weather here in WI. With that being said, please be mindful about what your child is wearing to school as we do go outside for both recesses each day. Our policy is still the same, it must be 50 degrees outside before the students may not wear their jackets outside. Another good idea is to maybe keep those boots at school along with hats and gloves as the playground can remain pretty muddy and slippery through out spring and that way we can keep our shoes nice and clean as well!
With the warmer temps, hopefully coming soon, also comes the spring allergies. If you're child is in need of medication while they are here at school please feel free to bring it to the office/health room and fill out a medication form so I may administer it to your child at school. Students are not permitted to transport any medication to and from school.
I look forward to seeing all of your children as they return after break and hearing about all the fun they had.
Warm wishes,
Heather Traindl
