❄️ December 2023 /January 2024❄️
🔔Principal's Message
Greetings Tuscarora Family,
I hope you had an opportunity to pause this Thanksgiving holiday and share valuable time with friends and family. As we move into the holiday season, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the partnership between students, families, community, and our school. It is through this consistent partnership that we build community and work together in pursuit of the success for each of our students.
During the month of November, we started the second quarter of the 2023-2024 school year and recognized a number of Huskies for their fantastic accomplishments during the first quarter. Congratulations to all on the A/B Honor Roll students. I commend each of you for your perseverance and dedication to excellence!
We also recognized a number of students who excelled in the different content areas and those who exemplified the tenets of RISE: Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. Please continue to read on into this newsletter for the names of our award recipients.
In this newsletter, you will find much information to keep you connected with upcoming events and important reminder. This newsletter also includes multiple opportunities for students to seek additional help in multiple subject areas. Please connect with classroom teachers, Advisory teachers, school counselors, assistant principals, staff members, or with me. Let us know how we can support you and help your student succeed.
Have a marvelous holiday season and a fantastic New Year!
Pamela Croft
Principal

Supporting Students Through SLED
Attention parents, families, and students! The successful SLED program will be offered again beginning the week of December 4th.
SLED is an afterschool program where students can receive academic support from teachers afterschool. This is a great opportunity for any student to come in and get help on assignments, relearning missed content, address questions about content, and get extra help studying or preparing for assessments.
The SLED program is scheduled for each Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30PM - 6:15 PM in the school library. A late bus will be available to provide transportation for SLED participants. No registration is necessary, just show up in the school library before 4:30 PM. Students will not be admitted after 4:30 PM.
Don't wait until the end of the quarter to get help, start now and to ensure early and continuous success.

You may need to update your account information. Go to the Matching Tool to verify. To make corrections, click 'Update'. **LCPS uploads the student's Preferred Name for our roster. If your legal name is different, you may need to work with College Board to get them matched together.**

What Is a Good PSAT/NMSQT Score?
According to College Board's website, the average PSAT/NMSQT score is about 920. A score between 1210 and 1520 puts you in the top 10% of test takers.
The PSAT/NMSQT and the SAT are very similar tests, so your score on the PSAT/NMSQT can give you an idea of how you’ll do when you take the SAT.
Your PSAT/NMSQT score report gives you valuable information about your strengths and weaknesses that you can use to prepare for the SAT and increase your score.
