When visiting the Learning Center for lunch, as tempting as it may be to wonder over by the fence to look for, or talk to, your student on the playground at recess, that presents some obvious concerns for our staff. There is no way for our playground staff to know who each adult is and whether or not they are verified through the school, and thus a safe visitor. To help us keep our students safe, please do not walk over to the fence to watch/visit with your child(ren). If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Hillborg at 695-5721.

For those that ordered Falcon apparel via the Sandlot Sports online store, those items are expected to be delivered to the schools on Monday. Depending on what time they arrive on Monday, you should expect to see them come home with your child by Tuesday of next week.

School pictures were sent home with your student(s) this afternoon so please be on the lookout for those. Picture Retake Day will be held on Wednesday, October 30th.

Leading up to the Homecoming parade and football game on Friday, October 4th, the Freeland Learning Center will be participating in Spirit Week. To show our school spirit and our Falcon pride, students are encouraged to participate in the following dress-related themes next week, but they certainly do not have to.

Tuesday, October 1st – Favorite Team Day (includes the colors of your favorite team/school)

Wednesday, October 2nd – Mismatch Day

Thursday, October 3rd – Hat Day

Friday, October 4th – Falcon Pride Day (green and white colors)

PTO Holiday Fundraiser

Former Detroit Red Wings star Darren McCarty will perform at the Freeland Performing Arts Center at Freeland High School on Saturday, October 12th. It's a night of comedians, stories, and hanging out with a Detroit Red Wings legend. The show is from 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a meet & greet afterwards, which is included with your ticket purchase. Darren McCarty will also pose for photos and sign merchandise.

All proceeds benefit the FMS Travel Club's 2020 Washington, DC trip. To purchase tickets, please contact Mindi Hannon at hannonm@freelandschools.net.

The Freeland Learning Center raised $279 from last Friday's Hats On for Cancer event! Thank you for your $1 donations, all of which went to the Clash for a Cure fund. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Whether you are visiting for lunch, picking up your child for an appointment, or volunteering in the classroom, you are more than welcome to park along the front of the Learning Center during the school day (9:05-3:45). If you need to stop by before 9:05 or after 3:45, you will need to use the parking lot in order to avoid bus drop-off and pick-up times. If you do park along the front of the building (next to the sidewalk), please be aware of the designated fire lanes located directly in front of the building.

Wednesday, October 2nd is Count Day! The number of students in attendance on Count Day has significant financial implications for all school districts. We greatly appreciate your support in taking every measure possible to ensure your student is in attendance on Wednesday.

School will not be in session on Monday, October 7th. Staff will be involved in professional learning all day.
