This week we got a big dump of snow that could be seen as a barrier, but Canadians know there is always a way through. Like the Wisemen who encountered a barrier when they met with Herod, we have a choice to make.

Fr. Kris Fourth Week of Advent Message

Heavenly Father,

Open our eyes to the barriers that prevent us from a relationship with you.

Help us to live our lives with our mind and hearts open to you instead of the barrier of a material existence.

Help us to find joy within the barriers

Help us to clear our mental blocks by finding the right tools.

Like the Wisemen chose not to return to Herod, help us to remember to always choose our way to you.

Amen.

On behalf of our entire OLMP Catholic school staff, we wish all of our families a very Merry Christmas! Our school is so blessed and thankful for all of your support. Recent examples include donations for our annual Turkey Dinner, donations to the local Food Bank and supporting the EICS Lurana Shelter initiative. We hope you receive the blessings of God with a smiling face and spread the love with an open heart. The Advent Season is all about reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ's birth in the world as it is today. It is a time to remember, through prayer and reflection, the true meaning of Jesus' birth. May the holiday season end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year.

OLMP school joined together and collected an awesome amount for the Food Bank.!

Over the past few weeks 32 staff members competed in a student led bracket challenge. Students were able to pick which staff member they felt would make it all the way to the end.

Round 1: Math Question Challenge

Round 2: Trivia Challenge

Round 3: Garbage Basketball Toss

Round 4: Perfection Challenge

Final Round: Best Decorated Gingerbread House.

The staff winner was from 5B Miss Chizawsky, and the student winner was also from 5B, fiercely loyal in choosing his homeroom teacher to win. Way to go, Tanner.

A great time was had by all at the 2021 Royal Cup 3 on 3 Tournament this week. Special thanks to Mr. Ellert and Mr. Stang for all your hard work with the Hockey Academy. Congratulations to Rykan Baumle and his team, the Knights, who got the overtime goal to claim victory this year.

The graduating class of 2022 is having a stuff-the-trailer style bottle drive on January 4 starting at 5pm. Please bring your empties from Christmas or New Years to the OLMP parking lot or contact a grade 12 student to come pick them up from you.
