Message from the Superintendent of Schools


Recently, the NJDOH updated the “COVID-19 Public Health Recommendations for K-12 Schools" (https://www.state.nj.us/health/cd/topics/covid2019_schools.shtml). The Bernards Health Department reached out to the State for clarification and after consulting with our Health Officer and District Physician we have been advised of the following:


According to the updated guidance, schools should no longer exclude close contacts of students with COVID-19 compatible symptoms. If the individual tests COVID-19 positive, then their close contacts would be notified and excluded.


We will continue to quarantine the class/cohort when a positive case has been confirmed as has been our practice this school year.

Annoucements & Updates

- With the Presidents' Day long weekend approaching, Mrs. Austenberg and Mrs. Toth kindly remind parents to communicate any travel plans. State travel restrictions require a 10-day quarantine for anyone returning from a trip outside the immediate region. Early communication is appreciated as it will give the administration and staff time to prepare for your child to participate virtually. Thank you as always for your cooperation.

Much of the information provided in the videos should help inform your decisions in the course selection process.   • By now, you should have received an email from Mountain View confirming your scheduling conference date/time, along with the email address to which the Meet link will be sent. If you have yet to schedule a conference, or if there is an issue with the date/time and/or contact email, please advise Mrs. Mott no later than Tuesday, February 9.


- 6th grade parents: Please check your email for an important communication from Mr. Moser regarding upcoming changes to the Mountain View Mathematics sequence.


- Marking period 2 grades will be posted to the Parent Portal this afternoon.

In Advisory today, students focused on maintaining our caring school community by making valentines for our AMAZING school nurse, Mrs. Austenberg! All student valentines (whether crafted by hand or designed on their Chromebooks) will be added to a bulletin board display outside Mrs. Austenberg's office to demonstrate our appreciation for how hard she's working this year to keep our school community safe. Please join us in expressing your appreciation for her steadfast commitment to maintaining everyone's health (students, staff and parents alike!) during this year's unique challenges when you have the opportunity.
