The Good News - October 9, 2022

Thanksgiving day reminds us that it's within our families where we learn to share and get along with others. We learn about each others burdens and about sharing one another's joys. We celebrate the fact that God picked this batch of less-than-perfect individuals to be our family. This weekend we gather and give thanks for all that God gives us.

School fees will be applied to your child's account in PowerSchool by the end of the month. You can pay on-line with a debit card or credit card. However, if you wish to pay by cash or cheque, please send it to the school office (make cheques payable to Elk Island Catholic Schools). If you have other questions or require assistance with the online payment, please contact our school at 780-998-7777. Please join us for dancing and a great time for the whole family. Snacks, drinks and glow-sticks will be available to purchase. Tickets are $5 per individual and families of 4-10 people are $20 (immediate family only).Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis so that we can adhere to our safety capacity regulations. We are excited to let you know that our school is participating in "One School, One Book".This program is offered to you by our school and supported by your school council. Every family will receive a backpack with a novel, a letter and a reading schedule. The oldest or only child at St.John will get their backpack on Friday, Oct. 14th, 2022. Please take time to read the information and use the attached "Family fun Pack" to enjoy the time you spend reading with your child(ren).

Thank you to all the guests that came to St. John XXIII to read to our students this week. It was an awesome opportunity to connect with our community.

ABOUT

We provide grants to help cover the costs of registration fees so that all kids aged 18 and

under in Fort Saskatchewan and our surrounding communities of Ardrossan, Josephburg,

Bruderheim, Lamont, Gibbons, Redwater and Bon Accord can play a season of sport.

KidSport provides grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport.

WHAT IS A GRANT?

KidSport Fort Saskatchewan provides grants of up to $400 per eligible child, per year (January 1st - December 31st) towards sport registration fees.

Do you need equipment in order to play? Let us know, and we can make a referral to a partner agency. KidSport grants are intended to be used for sport registration fees; travel and competitions are not eligible for funding.

Eligibility Requirements

KidSport Fort Saskatchewan uses the Canadian Low Income guidelines(before Tax plus 30%) to determine financial eligibility for grants (Line 236 of your tax assessment). The guidelines can be found on our website:

2021-2022 Yearbooks have been distributed and there are still 9 available for purchase. They are $25.00 and on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Mrs. Potter in the office if you wish to purchase one.

Lifetouch Photography is excited to announce the launch of a new way to access photos online. After much safety and security testing, Lifetouch developed a way for families to access their child’s photo using their student ID number.
Go to our website at www.mylifetouch.ca, click on Student ID and follow the detailed instructions to view and order photos. Your child's student ID is located in PowerSchool, under their name on the main page.
