Email National Center for Safe Routes to School for support on safest routes: info@saferoutesinfo.org
Here you will find Safe Student Travel tips!
Students should reach out to Ms. Ross at the front desk for questions about M7 cards or if they need a replacement.
Hope this information helps your students and families!
4. BPS Exam School Application Process
Is your child currently in grade 6, 8, or 9 and you are interested in applying to the BPS Exam Schools for the 2024-2025 school year? If so, Families are required to complete two steps between October 10 and November 9, 2023. Families may visit this website for additional information.
Complete the residency verification process at a BPS Welcome Center
Sign up for the December 9th test (online registration form)
Students are given two opportunities to take the MAP Growth admissions test: June 2023 and December 2023. If a student takes the test twice, they will use the higher score for the application. If the student tested this past June and the parent is satisfied with the scores, it is not required that they test again in December; however, residency verification is required.
There will also be a virtual Information Session this Thursday, October 12th at 6PM. This session is open to the public and folks may click this Zoom link to join the meeting.
5. Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month Dinner Celebration
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Boston Prep will be hosting a Latinx Hispanic Heritage Event on Thursday 10/12 at 6pm at Boston Prep. Families and students are encouraged to attend!

8. Middle School Announcements
ROCKtober is a Boston Prep tradition to celebrate the hard work of our students and bring joy to our community. As we celebrate ROCKtober, Middle School students will have dress down days and themed community activities to show school spirit and learn more about our commitments. One Team and Middle School Students are encouraged and welcomed to participate - Rise like a Phoenix!
Please review the attached calendar and information below on ROCKtober events! Students who chose not to participate in the dress-down themes are expected to be in full uniform.
Please ensure all dress-down theme attire follows the Boston Prep dress code.
9. High School Announcements
- PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test): The PSAT is a practice SAT, whereas the SAT is a college entrance exam. This year, we will have both 10th and 11th graders take the PSAT at Boston Prep on Saturday, October 14. The exam is digital so students must bring their CHARGED school issued Chromebook (personal devices are not permitted for testing).
- Why are 10th and 11th graders taking the PSAT? PSAT scores are used to determine who qualifies as a National Merit Scholar. If designated a National Merit Finalist, you can expect big financial and admissions benefits when applying to some colleges. Even if you are not a National Merit Finalist, many schools and corporations offer additional scholarships to students who receive high scores on the PSAT.
- Date: Saturday, October 14
- Time: Doors open at 7:30am for students, test begins at 8am; end time varies, but no later than 1:30pm -- late students will not be granted entrance and must go home
- Grades: 10 and 11 only
- Attire: Boston Prep uniform
- What Students Should Bring:
- Charged school issued Chromebook and charger
- (optional) Water bottle, snack
- All other items will be provided for students!
Summer Enrichment Verification: Boston Prep's high school graduation policy requires that high school students participate in a summer enrichment opportunity each summer of high school, for a total of 3 summer enrichment credits. Students earn the summer enrichment credit the summer after 9th grade, 10th grade, and 11th grade. Here are some examples of summer enrichment opportunities: participating in an academic camp or pre college program, completing an internship program, volunteering a minimum of 40 hours of community service, enrolling in a leadership training institute or summer camp, and obtaining summer employment through SuccessLink, ABCD, or other youth employment opportunities. For students currently enrolled in 10th, 11th and 12th grades, they will need to have their summer supervisor complete this Summer Enrichment Verification Form to receive the credit. The deadline for the Summer Enrichment Verification Form is Friday, October 13, 2023.
