Principal's Message
This week we had the pleasure of hosting the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. Our student body got the honor of watching these talented musicians perform on Tuesday. We were also able to invite many local Veterans to watch their amazing talent. It was a moving and memorable experience.
The Marine Corp musicians also had the opportunity to meet with the CHS Band after the event. It was great to watch our students glean knowledge and inspiration. Our Band also held their Winter Showcase this week and were able to showcase their talents. The Spring Musical, “The Little Mermaid” still has more shows to check out as well.
Our Equestrian Team had a great showing at their competition. Sadie Schweitzer, Madi Bigej, Hannah Smith, Hayley Smith, Hailey Magenheimer, Addie Heinemann, Madison Wheeler have qualified for state in at least one event so far. See more information on their latest meet below. Our Unified squad finished up their successful season. We also honored our Winter Sports Athletes at their end of season banquet. Congratulations to our CHS athletes!
Our talented Dance team also continues their winning ways earning 1st place in Show and 1st place in Traditional at their competition. Join them for Friends and Family Night on March 15th at 7:30pm in the Main Gym - free! The team competes at the OSAA State Championships on March 17 at the Salem Pavilion.
Our students also had the opportunity to excel as leaders. We had a group of students participate with leaders from around the league in the OSAA STAR initiative. CHS students shine in so many ways!
It is amazing to watch our students excel in their extracurricular activities. It is also important that students get the job done in the classroom as well. Last but not least, we are headed into finals week. Please see the Finals Schedule below.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

About the play:
In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. This fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."
Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to live as a human, a world she connects with more than her ocean origins. As she explores the surface, she finds herself in love with the human Prince Eric. Misunderstood by her overprotective father, Ariel bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs – but the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order both above and under the sea.

Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-Excused Absence: For any anticipated absence that will be more than three days, students are expected to pick up a Pre-Excused Absence Form from Jessie Munoz at the Attendance Office.
To report an absence, call Jessie Munoz at our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Students have 48 hours to have unexcused absences excused. Students may lose the opportunity to make up work for credit due to unexcused absences. Please report an absence as soon as possible.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
