Washington January 2024 Update
Washington Elementary School - Home of the Golden Eagles
Youth Art Month
Evee, Lily and Olivia have been selected to present their art pieces in the 2024 Wisconsin Youth Art Month Show held in Madison! This is a high honor because only three students from each school are allowed to participate across the state.
The art show will be open throughout the entire month of March. On March 22 all Wisconsin artists K-12 chosen will be celebrated at the East Towne Mall in Madison at noon. There will be thousands of people attending. Their art will be hung and families are invited to come and see all of the awesome artwork along with the chance to make art and crafts with other art teachers.
The WAEA board (Wisconsin Art Education Association) will be there to hand out awards and certificates to all of the students chosen. Congratulations to Lily, Eevee and Livy!
Opinion Writing in 4th Grade
Students in 4th grade wrote opinion pieces focused on writing to their audience with a purpose. Students had to write about a topic that they wanted to change at school which ranged from having phones at school, more school lunches, and more fun days. They wrote letters to Mr. G to persuade his opinion and then had the chance of presenting it to him in front of the classroom.
WHS NHS Visits Washington
Whitewater High School National Honor Society members read historical books in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and other inspirational leaders to students at Washington Elementary School during Whitewater High School's Day of Service Celebration on January 15! Members enjoyed meeting the students in grades 3 - 5, answering questions about the Civil Rights Movement, and what it is like being a high school student at WHS. A great time was had by all!

Literacy Curriculum Adoption and DIBELS
Washington Elementary School is a 7 Mindsets School! The 7 Mindsets approach is based on the premise that success depends less on what a person knows, and much more significantly on how he or she thinks. The 7 Mindsets provide the foundation for resilience, motivation, and meaning in life. By making small shifts in the way someone views the world and his or her future in it, we help create a positive and sustainable transformation. Our mindset this month is 100%ACCOUNTABLE! Please take a look at the attached parent newsletter.
