Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year!
Cambrian School Year, August 16, 2022
Dear Cambrian Families,
I hope you enjoyed a fantastic, eventful summer with family and friends. Our staff can’t wait to welcome our incredible students back to school on Wednesday, August 24th!
We are excited about the start of a new school year and the opportunity to serve the families of Cambrian School District. Our goal is to provide the most engaging, robust instruction to educate and inspire our students in a healthy, welcoming environment.
COMMUNICATION
Our goal is to keep you informed, with easily-accessed information at your fingertips. District Office Newsletters will be sent out monthly, to fill you in about district-wide events, issues and updates. To make sure you are fully updated, you will also be receiving weekly regular communications from your school site.
Our board meetings are scheduled for the first and third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the District Office, located at 4115 Jacksol Ave. Board Meetings are open to our public as well as streamed live over zoom.
Also, the District Board of Trustees will be holding Office Hours several times a year at each school campus. You’re invited to attend – meet the elected board members in a casual setting. Dates and times will be sent out soon, and everyone is welcome – families, students and staff – at any of the campus office hours, even if you attend a different district school. The board would love to get a chance to meet you, hear from you, and answer any questions you may have.
COVID
As we begin our next year, we have many more tools in our tool kit and a better understanding of COVID than ever before. Our decisions regarding what we do and how we do it will continue to be based on the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) K-12 Guidelines and Santa Clara County Health Department Guidance. No matter what, our staff is committed to serving the needs of the whole child, with appropriate academic, physical and social-emotional curriculum.
The School year will start with masks being highly recommended for our students and staff while indoors. We will start this school year with welcoming our families back on campus. It is important that you help keep our students healthy and schools open by mitigating your own health. Please stay home if you are not feeling well and wear a mask is needed given your family situations.
Here is the most current information and the Decision Tree 8/2022 that all schools will use to guide families and staff:
Over-the-Counter Antigen tests (OCT) are accepted for determining if a person has COVID 19.
Cambrian School District will no longer participate in weekly asymptomatic testing. OCT tests will be available at each school for symptomatic students.
Symptomatic students will need to go home, test and isolate.
Symptomatic students may return to school with:
A confirmed negative test: picture or signed affidavit of a confirmed negative test can be brought in or sent to your school site, AND
Symptom improvement, AND
Fever free for 24 hrs without any fever reducing medication
COVID 19 positive students may return to school with:
A confirmed negative test on days 5-10 of isolation: picture or signed affidavit of a confirmed negative test can be brought in or sent to your school site, AND
Symptom improvement, AND
Fever free for 24 hrs without any fever reducing medication
Important Note: If your student has an underlying health concern that has similar symptoms to COVID like migraines, allergies or asthma, please make sure a doctor note is on file at your school office.

COVID-19 TEST DISTRIBUTION:
We are asking families to please test for COVID, prior to school starting. If you need a test we will be distributing them Monday, August 22nd, from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon at the District Office, 4115 Jacksol Dr.
MEASURE R CONSTRUCTION
The Measure R phase 1 Modernization Project has been in full swing this summer – the start of a multi-year project. This phase of the project was a huge undertaking in a short window of time. The school sites will be ready to safely welcome our students on August 24th.
That being said, the sites will still be under construction as we finish pieces of the projects that can be safely done while school is in session. Most of the work will be done outside of the instructional day and there will be orange fencing keeping areas closed off from staff and students while we continue work or help our landscaping reestablish. The crews have been working overtime and weekends to get the classrooms ready for staff and students’ return.
Important note: Due to the tight construction schedule, our teachers will only have one day to set up classrooms. Please understand that everyone is doing their best to be ready for the first day of school, but there may be a few more finishing touches to be completed over the first week of school.
