Science Fair
At the annual CNUSD science fair, we had a strong showing from our very own students. Districtwide, over 7,000 projects were attempted at all three levels: Elementary, Intermediate, and High School. Of those 7,000 projects, only 400 were selected to make it to the district science fair finals, and this year, Corona High School qualified 20 projects to move on! During the awards program on February 13th, several of our students' projects placed in the top three and will be moving onto the county science fair!!! Congratulations to our Panther scientists!
- Animal Science: Jack Myer and Jose Martin's placed third, while Kathryn Kiefer placed second.
- Behavioral and Social Sciences: Julianna Cappavelli and Jazman Gallardo placed third.
- Environmental Engineering: Gavin Joyce placed first.

Amazon Future Engineer School
I am proud to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of Amazon's Future Engineer program! Amazon will sponsor Computer Science curriculum and professional development for our school. This will definitely help our school build and maintain our newly offered Computer Science program through our STEM Academy! Thank you and congratulations to our very own Mr. Patrick Chao (STEM coordinator and math & Computer Science teacher), who applied for the grant! This will help us grow our AP courses in the field of Computer Science! You can learn more about the program here: https://www.amazonfutureengineer.com/

YMCA Youth & Government
This year's YMCA Youth & Government group representing CNUSD is made up exclusively of Corona High School students! Our Panthers had an amazing opportunity to visit the state capitol and participate in a series of activities aimed at teaching them about the workings of our government. They were accompanied by our CNUSD Board President, Mrs. Mary Ybarra, and met both Assembly Member Sabrina Cervantes and Senator Roth with an opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with both. Junior, Janet Ramirez, presented on the need for more mental health support in public schools. Below is the list of our Panthers currently in Sacramento (as of February 15th) participating in this extremely valuable event. Here is a link to learn more about the program: https://calymca.org

Girls Wrestling: Our Panthers had another amazing weekend at the CIF Eastern Regional Championship! Thirteen of our wrestlers competed and 8 qualified for CIF Masters Championships at Roosevelt High School (February 15th and 16th). Coming home undefeated in the tournament were Champions Danielle Garcia (42-1) and Miranda Koppi (34-7). Two-time CIF Regional Champion Amara Devericks remains undefeated on the season at 42-0. February Awareness
- National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February
- February is the shortest month but is packed full of holidays, from Valentine’s Day to Presidents’ Day. February is also National Random Acts of Kindness Month, making it the perfect opportunity to reinforce compassion and empathy in your child.
- Performing a random act of kindness is exactly what it sounds like: deliberately attempting to brighten someone else’s day by doing something kind for no specific reason. The intention behind it is to practice selflessness and altruism, but research has shown that there are, in fact, many benefits to practicing kindness. For children, showing kindness towards family, friends, their community, and strangers strengthens skills such as respect, responsibility, empathy, and compassion.
- There are so many ways for you to join in and participate in this month. Take a look at a few ideas: https://www.bgcconejo.org/february-is-random-acts-of-kindness-month/
- Every year, approximately 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner. It is also known that 3 in 4 parents have never talked to their children about domestic violence. In light of these alarming facts, every year during the month of February advocates join efforts to raise awareness about dating violence, highlight promising practices, and encourage communities to get involved.
