Principal's Notes
Living a "Principled" life continues as the Learner Profile focus this month. 9th and 10th grade participated in a Community Meeting in townhall style debating an ethical dilemma. As seen in the picture, the IB Learner Profile is taught by IB World Schools on every continent. https://www.ibo.org/ We all have a sense of what is right and wrong but this may be different one person to another. We want students to learn to listen to different perspectives and be comfortable when people disagree. An ethical dilemma occurs when a person is forced to choose between two or more principles or values as they decide what to do or think.
From the IB:
"As IB learners we strive to be Principled. We act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups, and communities. We take responsibility for our own actions and their consequences."
Homework Club
Homework Club takes place every Wednesday. All students are welcome. Meet in the library 3:15-4:15. Trimester 1 grades are due from teachers Friday November 17. This gives students just over a week to complete any missing work. Now would be the time to send your student to Homework Club! Email jsaladik@schoollane.org or cweber@schoollane.org

Report Card Conferences
School Lane has a long tradition of families picking up report cards on the day of Teacher Conferences. Conferences are November 20 in the evening and November 21 during the day. Scheduling is done this year through the Parent Portal on PowerSchool. Students are all working hard to put together a Portfolio of their work to present to you. Students present two assignments from each subject area with a reflection for each. Students talking about their work beyond the classroom and reflecting on the experience is a crucial part of the IB education at School Lane.
Middle School SGA Bread Basketball
Middle School SGA are leading 7th and 8th grade advisories in a food collection for Penndel Food Pantry. This week they are collecting canned fruits and vegetables.

IB Campus Band Continues to Grow
Many students who stopped playing in the last couple of years have dusted off their instruments and joined the Band. We are excited to see how this program is growing. If your students would like to start playing an instrument or pick up an old hobby, please contact our Band Director, Theresa Morishita.
Early College Application for IB Campus Students
November 1 was the early College Application deadline this year. 42 seniors submitted 236 applications to 84 different schools. Our College Guidance Counselor, Katie Kane, worked tirelessly to assist students in this endeavor. Thank you also to the teachers who helped students with college essays and wrote recommendations. Students applied to schools which have been popular in past years, including Arcadia University, Thomas Jefferson, Drexel University, Holy Family University, La Salle, St Joseph's University, Temple University, Rutgers and Penn State. Additional colleges getting many School Lane applications this year include Illinois Institute of Technology, Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Michigan, North Eastern University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
