Car Rider Information
Hi Car Rider Parents!
Yesterday was our first day for car rider dismissal and I think it went very well. Thank you to everyone that had their color coded car tag with them and visible on day 1! Below are a few tips to ensure car rider drop off and pick up run smooth and efficient.
Drop Off in the Morning
- The front doors open at 7:35am.
- Please form 2 lines. As you drive around to the front of the building, the 2 lanes to merge into 1 and pull all the way up to the 12 designated spots.
- Students should be ready to exit the vehicle as soon as you park.
- Due to COVID restrictions, the staff is trying not to touch the vehicle. We encourage your students to open and close the car doors themselves.
- Parents are not allowed to get out of the car.
- It would be great to practice getting in and out of the vehicle at home, so students are ready to do it at school by themselves.
- Please do not drive around another vehicle. We only have 1 lane in the front of the building. All cars will move as soon as the students have unloaded.
Pickup in the Afternoon
- Our dismissal time is 3:05pm. This week we are starting a little early, just to get our procedures in place. Next week, we want to maximize our instructional time, so we will starting loading cars around 3:05pm.
- Every vehicle must have a PMCE issued color-coded dismissal tag. It is color-colored by the youngest child in the family.
- During dismissal, we will move 1 lane at a time. Please fill up the right lane first, then the left, then the right, etc. Please do not switch lanes as this will mess up how students are being dismissed from their grade level hallway, and it will cause the process to slow down.
- Per Katy ISD Police, the car rider line needs to form along Elyson Falls Drive facing west, which means you will ONLY turn right into the car rider/parent pick up entrance. The line on Elyson Falls Drive cannot be double stacked.
- As you enter the front of the school, you will pull up to one of the 12 spots. Your student should be waiting for you at that spot. The students are walking from their grade level hallways, so it may take a bit longer here at the beginning of the school for everyone to get the hang of this process.
- If your student is not there at the time you arrive, we may ask you to pull forward (when the line moves) and stop at the orange cone for further assistance.
- Please do not drive around another vehicle. We only have 1 lane in the front of the building. All cars will move as soon as the students have loaded.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work to learn this new process together.
