Dear Sward Families,

Party: 2nd attempt this Friday, January 13 *** AND we will also have our Pajama Day this Friday! :)

Just a reminder to send your child's permission form in for our classroom parties for this Friday in order to allow your child to eat the PTA provided snack. The party will take place from 1:30 - 3:00 and will be a full school bingo party!

If you choose to send your child to school with anything to share with their classmates, please remember that NO edible treats are allowed to go home with the children. However, non-edible treats are allowed (such as pencils, erasers, or stickers). If your child does bring something edible to distribute please know that it will have to be sent back home with your child since they can't be distributed here at school.

***Any parents volunteering for the first time this school year need to have their ID scanned in office M-TH anytime from 8 - 4***

District 123 will begin ACCESS testing tomorrow, January 11. This assessment is given yearly at Sward School and throughout Illinois to monitor the language development of students identified as English Learners. There are four ACCESS test sections that measure speaking, listening, reading and writing. Sward English Learners will participate on various dates between January 11 and mid-February. Please contact your child’s English Learning teacher for more information.

A reminder for our Drama Club for January 11 performance:

• Both actors and stage crew should be to school by 6:30 p.m. in order to get ready.
• Performance begins at 7:00 p.m. in the main gym.

When the weather allows, we will still try to go outside for recess as much as possible. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather.

Sometimes medication is needed during the school day. Whether it be prescribed or over the counter, please be aware that a doctor's order is needed for any medication to be administered at school. If no order is received the parent or guardian must come and administer the student's medication. All medication is stored in the Health Office and is not to be kept in backpacks for safety reasons. Medication order forms can be found on our district website or can be sent home with the student.

The annual Taco and Trivia Event planning is underway... click HERE for more details. Save the date of Friday, May 5 for this 21 and older event.

When you "catch your child" using real life math outside of school, please send a photo and statement of explanation to ckramer@d123.org . Check out this example of our Eagle adding up his score at the end of his golf tournament. The photos and explanations will be added to a "Math Outside of School" bulletin board for all to see.
