Want to get involved...
The partnership with our community plays such a huge part in helping our students and school flourish. The past years our PTC has worked hard to bring in a series of assemblies, science, art supplies, sound system, recess supplies, playground equipment, campus beautification, community events, and so much more. They are a part of so many experiences that improve the culture of the school for our students and families.
Another organization would be our Placer Hills Education Foundation (PHEF). This group sponsors events like the BBQ and Brew, Bingo, and more to help support the entire district. This past year they were able to fund all field trips at both sites as just a small sample of what this program has provided.
That being said, there are many opportunities to develop that partnership that will make the greatest impact in their education, so please watch out for those opportunities as they arise, for example:
Parent, Teacher Club
Placer Hills Education Foundation (PHEF)
Lions Club
Sight Word Busters
Docents
Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom
Reading with children who need extra help
School-wide events
Student recognition events
Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers
If you are interested in helping in any of these facets, please let your child's teacher know. Also, if you have never volunteered at SHS before, please fill out the volunteer application linked here.
Staffing: I am so excited to be one of the new staff welcomed to Placer Hills Union School District. Helping me get my feet under me are a FABULOUS staff of returning teachers, paraprofessionals, and highly qualified clerical and custodial staff. From the custodial staff to the office staff and of course in the classrooms, I am thrilled to say that this staff is absolutely fabulous. In all my years in education, I have rarely seen such a tightknit, highly qualified, and empathetic staff as you have in Placer Union Hills School District. I feel honored to have joined them.
Class Lists…. are available Wednesday, August 16th at 4:00 through the AERIES parent portal, https://aeriesportal.placercoe.k12.ca.us/parent/phusd/. Please keep in mind that the staff worked very hard to assign your child into the class that would best fit their needs. Many things go into the designing of a class list. From gender, to capability, to personality, to style of learning, your child's past year teacher has carefully thought through these components and more to set your child up for success this year. We honor this work and do not consider changing class lists for the first month of school. After that if you and your child's educational team decide a change is needed, we look into that. It is very important that you complete the information in your portal in order to access the class list. Here is a link to the school supply list.
Popsicles with the Principal
Wednesday, August 16th from 6:00-7:00 The SHS PTC will be hosting popsicles with the principal on the back playground. This is a chance to come and catch up with classmates, meet new students and make sure you know where your classroom is. This was an exciting event last year, and I am very excited to participate in it.
Updating Emergency Information:
We are asking ALL families to visit their parent portal to update all their emergency information and review all the mandatory school documents for the current school year at https://aeriesportal.placercoe.k12.ca.us/parent/phusd/ . You can also find this link on our website.
The Sierra Hills School staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school and community family. We thank you for your support and look forward to working with you this upcoming school year!
Sincerely,
Principal Pattiey
