Information For All Students
5 Hour Pre-Licensing & Boating Safety Courses
SUNY Adirondack will be offering a live synchronous 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course on the following dates:
- Monday, April 1st from 9 am - 2 pm
- Monday, July 1st from 5 pm - 10 pm
This five-hour pre-licensing course is required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for all applicants who want to take a road test for a driver’s license. A MV-278 completion certificate needed for road test appointments will be issued at the conclusion of this class. Pre-registration is required and the cost of the course is $55.
Also offered through SUNY Adirondack is an About Boating Safely (ABS) course on April 13th from 8:30 am - 5 pm and May 18th & May 19th from 8:00 am - 12 pm at the SUNY Adirondack campus in Queensbury. The cost of the ABS course is $35. Registration is required. More information about these programs and additional offerings can be found online.
The PREFACE Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is a summer program for students entering 11th or 12th grade who have been historically under-represented in science, engineering, and the technological fields, and who express a strong, early interest in pursuing careers in these areas. The program will run Sunday, July 28 through Saturday, August 10, 2024 (2 weeks), on the RPI campus. More information, including an application can be found on the PREFACE website. The Hudson Mohawk AHEC will be hosting a Leadership Skills Course for Teens, Part 2. This FREE program is open to students ages 13-18 and will provide tips on completing college and scholarship applications (including essays), preparing resumes, cover letters and prepping for an interview. The program will be offered in three different counties, with the same program being offered in each county. See the flyer below for more information.
The Hudson Mohawk AHEC MASH Camp program provides a unique opportunity for students entering 9th- 12th grades to engage with many different providers in the healthcare workforce through interactive presentations. This program helps youth understand the extensive variety of careers available to them in the healthcare industry. More information can be found in the flyer below. Application can be found here. Employment Opportunities
King Brothers Dairy is now hiring for the 2024 season! Applicants must be at least 15 years old, have night and weekend availability, and be able to work in a fast paced environment. Applications can be picked up at the farm store. More information can be found here.
Amigos Cantina is seeking a hard working individual to apply for their open position as busperson. Applicants must have reliable transportation, live reasonably close, be able to multitask, be a quick learner, and be available at 3:15 pm. Ideally the candidate is not addicted to their cell phone and not participating in a spring sport (for increased availability). Preferably the candidate is at least 17 years old due to the restricted hours NY State places on student employment. Candidates must be able to lift heavy objects and mop the floor. Experience in a restaurant is a plus, with an understanding that the restaurant environment can feel stressful at times. If you are interested please find an application here.
Gavin Park Summer Camp is looking to hire fun and energetic people who enjoy working with children. The camp is for children entering grades 1st - 9th and it is an excellent opportunity for those who are interested in working with children. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older and be available to work the entire length of the camp (July 2nd - August 16th). Please see the flyer below for more information.

Volunteer at The Way!
Raise money for your class by volunteering at The Way (a gently used clothing store located at 17 Ferry St. in Schuylerville). More information can be found below:
- Students may volunteer Friday 3-5:30, Saturday 8:30-11, or Saturday 11-1:30
- Two to four students at a time can sign up for a shift using Signup Genius
- Volunteer hours will be tracked at the store
- For every student who works 2 hours, The Way will donate $5 to the class they are representing
- The Way will tally up the amount and donate the money to the school once per quarter
Volunteer with Saratoga Hospital SSOAR Program
Open to rising high school juniors and seniors, SSOAR is a unique summer youth program offered at Saratoga Hospital. SSOAR provides the opportunity for students to achieve community service hours while volunteering in a healthcare setting. Interested students (of at least 16 years of age) may submit a completed application and will be contacted by email to set up an interview. Students will serve at least 48 hours, generally volunteering 2 four hour shifts for six weeks. Following a successful interview, potential SSOAR participants will complete a health assessment and attend a mandatory SSOAR Orientation held at the end of June. March is Pennies for Scholars Month!
Help earn money for your grade level by bringing in coins during the month of March! Beginning Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 29, students in all grades may bring in monetary donations to their ELA classrooms to fill the containers provided. *All coins, bills and checks (made out to Schuylerville Dollars for Scholars) are welcome! Donations may be sent in daily, once a week, or by check anytime before March 29th. Also, on Friday, March 15th, students in K-12 will be celebrating "We Are Lucky to Learn Day" in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Students are invited to wear green and donate $1.00 to Dollars for Scholars this day! Fun fact - all money collected by each grade level stays with them and is awarded as scholarships to students who apply during their senior year. Interested in applying to West Point?
West Point will be offering a Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) this summer! This one week program is for current juniors (Class of 2025). Participants in the program will spend the week with West Point cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall. They will also learn about West Point's academics by trying 5 of their 17 academic workshops. Additionally, participants will learn about military training and how to become a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days, which include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (similar to Jiu-Jitsu) training, and more! Community Information
Schuylerville Dollars for Scholars® is a nonprofit foundation supporting academic success in the Schuylerville Central School District. This organization aims to help students achieve their educational goals by raising scholarship funds, establishing endowments, providing assistance with college readiness and the financial aid process, and distributing scholarships each year. Be on the lookout for various fundraising events coming up and be sure to follow Schuylerville Dollars for Scholars on social media! For those interested in volunteering with the Dollars for Scholars organization, please reach out to the President, Emma Foster, for additional information!
Senior Information
Old Saratoga Historical Association Scholarships: eligible applicants must be attending a two or four year college in the fall and complete a 600-word essay on: "The role Philip Schuyler played in the development of Old Saratoga (Schuylerville)" OR "How living in an historic village or area has influenced my life." Rodion Cantacuzene Scholarship: eligible applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, exemplary community service, and have an interest in history and the arts. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 12, 2024
Glens Falls Community Theatre Scholarship: eligible applicants must be enrolled in a two- or four-year program in vocal or instrumental performance, music education, drama education, acting, dancing, set design, or technical theatre. Application materials can be found here. Deadline: May 12, 2024
Adirondack School Counselor Association Scholarship: eligible applicants must be planning to attend a 4-year college or university, planning to major in human services, sociology, psychology, or a related "helping" field; must also have demonstrated a record of serving others in a humanitarian way. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 19, 2024 (application materials must be received by deadline, not postmarked)
Zonta Club of Glens Falls Scholarship: eligible applicant must be planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution and demonstrate academic success, school/community involvement and talent/dream for future success. Capital District Counseling Association Scholarship: eligible applicants must be from the Capital Region and plan to enroll at a Captial Region undergraduate institution. The Capital Region includes the counties of Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Montgomery, Greene, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and the southern part of Saratoga. Application materials can be found here. Jay Miner Scholarship: eligible applicants must be high school seniors who plan to continue his/her education at an accredited college/university. Selection is based the submission of a 750- 1500-word essay detailing the impact playing softball has had on your life. Application materials and information can be found here. Ben Stanley Memorial Art Scholarship: eligible applicants must be graduating seniors at Schuylerville High School (no graduating students will be excluded from consideration on academic grounds) and submit three (3) pieces of work demonstrating diversity in each body of work, using three (3) different mediums, and submit a 250 word essay. Beth Chubb Roberts Memorial Scholarship: to honor the life and legacy of Beth Chubb Roberts, the Schuylerville Teachers’ Association has set up a memorial scholarship fund to give back to graduating Schuylerville students. The memorial scholarship is a broad scholarship that is committed to supporting all of the things Beth stood for. Applicants are asked to submit a one page reflection of their career at Schuylerville and state what their future aspirations are. Please find the scholarship application here. Deadline: May 15, 2024
Fort Edward Historical Association Senior Student Art Show & Scholarship Competition: eligible participants must be seniors who have been accepted into a college Fine Arts program. More information can be found here. Deadline: March 20, 2024
New York State Society of Professional Engineers' Capital District Chapter Scholarship: eligible applicants must be pursuing engineering as a major. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 1, 2024
The Adirondack Runners (TAR) Scholarship: eligible applicant must be from designated school districts in Warren, Washington, Hamilton, Essex and Saratoga Counties or high school seniors who are TAR members-in-good-standing attending any high school; applicant must be planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college. Junior Information
SAT/ACT Testing Information:
The SAT and the ACT will be offered on the following (Saturday) National testing dates during the 2023-2024 school year. The cost of the SAT is $55. The ACT has a basic fee of $66.00, with an optional writing test (cost with writing is $91.00). If the cost of these tests presents a hardship, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please check with Mrs. Rust or Mrs. O'Brien.

SUNY College Fairs
Looking to learn more information about the various SUNY campuses and what they offer? On Thursday, March 14th, interested juniors will have the opportunity to attend the Spring College Fair at SUNY Adirondack. Permission slips have been sent home and must be returned to Student Services by Thursday, March 7th in order to attend this trip. (This field trip will be capped at 40 students.)
