Saturday School and Camp Marcum- December 9th
Our next Saturday School session is coming up! Have your child make up an absence and turn it into a day of attendance! This 1/2 day (8:30-12:30) of enrichment led by a certificated teacher, not only helps the school recoup lost funding from absences, but also helps interdistrict students maintain their good standing for interdistrict reviews by helping increase their attendance percentage, and is fun!!!
No absences? No problem! Students without absences can participate in a day (7:30-4:30) of fun activities with Camp Marcum!
Camp Marcum will also be available before and after Saturday school, to allow for greater flexibility for families to drop off and pick up.
Space is limited in both programs for our December 9th session, so sign up here today! Available for TK-8th Grade only. Please sign up for this session today! Sign ups will close 12/6/23.
Other upcoming Saturday School/Camp Marcum Sessions:
6th-8th Grade Honor Roll
We had so many 6th-8th grade students earn Honor Roll for 1st Trimester! We are proud of their dedication to academics and how hard they worked all trimester to maintain their grades. The middle school teachers celebrated with those who earned Honor Roll status at John's Incredible Pizza earlier this week! Keep up the great work, Wildcats!
1st Trimester Reading Goals
At Marcum, we know how important reading is and we encourage all of our Wildcats to meet individual reading goals every trimester. We want all of our Wildcats to have a love of reading! We encourage them to read what interests them and count those words towards their individual reading goals. Wildcats who aren't reading quite yet, have non-word count goals related to developing the necessary foundations for future independent reading. This trimester, 106 Wildcats met their reading goal! Be sure to see the enclosed flyer to see all of the Wildcats who made reading a priority for 1st trimester and met their goal! Way to go, Wildcats. We celebrated those who made their reading goal with a special goodie bag prior to Thanksgiving Break!
2022-2023 State Testing Results
Marcum is proud to celebrate that last year’s 3rd through 8th grade Wildcats who took the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) tests collectively outperformed all of our local and state comparisons for both English Language Arts and Mathematics! This is a great reflection of all the hard work put in by our students, teachers, and families to help students continue to grow. As a school, we will continue our efforts to provide opportunities that benefit our students and address individualized needs so that all Wildcats can reach their fullest potential.
Sports
We had two great teams (A and B) for both Football and Volleyball this year! Our 6th-8th graders played hard and improved so much over the course of our season. Marcum hosted the Football/Volleyball Tournament for South Sutter County's A Teams on November 9th. Our Wildcats played very well and took home 1st Place in Volleyball and 2nd Place in Football. We loved having the opportunity to play against the other local elementary schools, Browns and PG, throughout the season! We are so proud of our Wildcat Athletes! We also want to thank our coaches, Mr. A and Ms. Lori, for their dedication, support, and leadership! Basketball season is coming up soon and we can't wait to see how these Wildcats will perform!
Photos below are of the A Teams with their coaches.
