Emergency Drills
On the Friday before Thanksgiving Break, Mr. Lyche guided our school through a lockdown drill. The drill involved locking doors from the inside, moving items to try and barricade doors, closing blinds, having students move away from windows and doors, and instructing students about where they should go if they are ever outside of the classroom during a lockdown.
Our staff did a fantastic job of having age-appropriate conversations about the importance of these drills while reassuring our students that they are safe and cared for deeply at Bernardo School. We hope that you're able to have great conversations at home with your child where you can ask them what they do during our drills. Continual repetition in discussion and practice will help us be prepared for emergencies which we hope will never occur at our school.
Read-a-Thon Fundraiser Kicks off this Thursday
The Read-a-Thon is one of our favorite fundraisers that generates funds for our school library and reading programs while encouraging students to read!
We are asking all parents to please activate your child's read-a-thon account today by Clicking HERE and following the simple instructions to get ready to begin collecting pledges. Beginning this Thursday, your child will be able to begin tracking the number of minutes he/she reads between December 1-15 to help support our school.
Look for more information later this week about this great event. We hope EVERYONE participates!
If you have any questions or run into any challenges with activating your child's account, please email thebernardopta@gmail.com.
