Dear students and parents/guardians:

Thank you to all the parents/guardians who attended our annual Back-to-School-Night last night. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all, and strengthening the partnerships between school and home. Also, a big shout-out to our Community Service, NHS, and Student Council students who worked so hard to help everyone find their way around the building.

This week, I am thrilled to share the news that Walpole High School has been recognized as a 'School of Recognition' by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Out of a total of 1,830 schools in Massachusetts, Walpole High School was among only 66 schools (and only 18 high schools) that received this recognition. Our students have demonstrated high achievement or strong growth under the state's accountability system, which takes into account MCAS scores and other measures including chronic absenteeism and graduation rates. This achievement is a direct result of the hard work of our students, teachers, and staff. We are grateful for the support of our families and the entire Walpole community!

We have partnered with the Massachusetts Work Based Learning Alliance to provide opportunities for our students to engage in virtual internships or industry project experiences. A few WHS students took advantage of an opportunity through IBM this summer, and we are looking to open this up to additional students.

The Work Study Program is looking for business partners! If you know a business that would be interested in hosting WHS seniors as an intern, please fill out this form. All fields are welcome!

The first deadline for the Yearbook is coming up. Senior portraits are due Friday, October 6th. If you haven't scheduled a photo shoot, please do so ASAP. If you are planning to use a school picture, please see Ms. Gould for a pass before September 27th.

Senior portraits and all other submissions should be through our Google Classroom page. Classroom code is y4na7g6.

We will meet on Tuesday September 26th after school in room 2208. Remember to bring in permission slips allowing you to participate in various activities throughout the year, and to pay the one time extracurricular fee of $60 Check payable to "Town of Walpole" for involvement in all clubs.

The first French club meeting will be next Thursday 9/28 after school in room 1333.

The Speech and Debate Team meet every Monday at 2:10-3PM in room 2124 in the English Wing.

Dungeon and Dragons (D&D) club is starting up this year! We will meet the first Wednesday of each month from 2:15-4:00pm with Mr. B in room 1141, as well as the third Wednesday with Mr. Bakale in room 1317!

ALL players (experienced or not) are welcomed to join and build a world of their own!

Attention all STEM Academy members. There will be a meeting for all members in grades 9-12 on Tuesday 9/26 at 2:15 in room 1336. We will be discussing STEM Academy requirements and opportunities for this school year. Please email Mr. Braccini directly if you are unable to attend.

After a one year hiatus the PM Club is back! Do you like meeting new people? Do you like to go to new places? If so, you should join the PM club. Introductory meeting in Mrs. Bacon’s room (1319) on Friday September 29th.

Photography Club will meet Thursday September 28th. The theme is Favorite Color. If you have a favorite color find something of that color and take a picture of it. If you don't have a favorite color, choose something rainbow, whatever you like. Anyone in Walpole High is welcome to join.
