SOPHOMORES THINKING ABOUT DUAL ENROLLMENT!!!! - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
If your current 10th grader may be planning to take any of our academic Dual Enrollment (DE) classes next year as a junior, it would be wise to take the PSAT this year because they most likely will not have taken the ACT by the start of their junior year. The requirements for academic DE courses are an overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum ACT/PSAT score for the following academic DE courses that we offer:
DE Statistics requires a 19 ACT math sub-score or 450 PSAT math sub-score and a 3.0 GPA
DE Pre-Calculus requires a 23 ACT math sub-score or a 450 PSAT math sub-score and a 3.0 GPA
DE French, DE Spanish, and DE Geology require a 19 ACT Reading sub-score or a 460 PSAT Critical Reading sub-score and a 3.0 GPA
DE Ceramics only requires a 2.0 GPA with no ACT/PSAT requirement.
DE classes that we offer through CCTE courses have different criteria.

ANNA MCKAY RECOGNIZED AS TOP WORLD CHAMPION EQUESTRIAN!!
Anna competed at the very prestigious AQHA (American Quarter Horse Assoc) Youth World Show in Oklahoma City, OK, in ranch riding. Ranch riding is a “pattern” class. Every rider must perform the same pattern and are judged by 5 judges. In ranch riding, the judges are looking for a horse that is eager and willing to do all maneuvers and transition from one gait to the next smoothly, as if they are working on a ranch. In the first round, Anna scored in the TOP 15 of 104 and qualified her for the finals.
Most of these kids she competes against are from the Western part of the United States, live on ranches and are homeschooled - giving them multiple advantages. A highlight of the World Show was Anna marched in the State parade, which is similar to the Olympics Opening Ceremony.
TENNIS SUCCESSES!
The summer season is over for the Greater Knoxville Tennis Association high school developmental league. Four Wildcat and Lady Wildcat team members plus two Clinton High School players competed against Knoxville area club teams. Our competitors finished strong with a 6-0 win over Fort Sanders, ending the season with a 5-3 record. David Bowman coaches the players and has opened registration for the upcoming fall season. Teams will face competition of similar skill level, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Coach Bowman shared, “This league is a great opportunity for freshmen and sophomores to get match play experience. The league gives advanced players a chance to hone their skills before the season starts next spring.” Pictured L to R: Rose Farahi, Cole Hedden, Cade Crowe, Elizabeth Lowman, Teagan Russell.
