TOPS 4th Grade Weekly Newsletter

Each Friday you will receive a grade level newsletter with important information needed to plan your upcoming week. Since you have one more week of orientation, you are receiving a special edition of the newsletter crafted specifically for students who started with us on August 29th.

You will see Class Connect (CC) sessions on your daily plan for course sessions outside of orientation. You are not required to attend those sessions this week. However, you are free to drop in and see what class is like.

The daily plan is currently down. You will see many assignments and some may say overdue. Please ignore these alerts and focus on what is listed below from your teachers.

Welcome to 4th Grade Math at TOPS! This week you will be completing a review of Unit 1 Lesson 9 on Whole Numbers so you can see what we've covered so far. You will also begin working on Unit 2 Lesson 1 and 2. Please follow the daily/weekly plan online in order to access the correct lessons. Also, please join me in my Math Orientation Session on Tuesday @ 10:00am so that we can go over all the expectations and requirements for math and to answer any questions you may have. Looking forward to seeing you!

A great big WELCOME to our new TOPS students! I am so happy to have you 4th graders in Science, and I just want to give you some idea of what next week will look like for us. We started the year by looking at the scientific method and what that means as we are doing science all year long. This week you won’t need anything except your working headset, a science journal/notebook, pencil, and your imagination. Please be aware that your daily and weekly plan may not be accurate right now. Use the schedule listed below instead.

You will have some OLS assessments that go with next week’s lessons, and we will discuss what those assessments will look like as well as how we will use USATestPrep. You will also have a Course Prep Plan that will help you understand what was covered during the first two weeks of school. DON’T WORRY, we’re going to make sure that you can understand what we have been studying and where we are going from here. Remember that you can always reach out to me with any questions that you may have about science or anything else. See you in class on Wednesday!

Assignments for the week of Sept. 4-7: Unit 1, Lesson 5: Mighty Mollusks, & Lesson 6: Arthropods

Welcome to 4th grade social studies! This week in social studies you will be completing unit 1, lesson 5 and 6. During class on Tuesday we will work together on lesson 6 to identify the ethnic groups that immigrated to Texas. We will talk about the reasons people decided to settle where they did and the location of major Texas cities. Please bring a pencil, notebook (can be a composition book or a spiral), and a working headset with a microphone. I am so excited to meet you!

Welcome to 4th grade!!! I am very excited to begin our classes. We have a fun year ahead of us full of activities, projects and much, much more. This week you will continue with orientation sessions. We will practice using the BBC tools and navigate through the OLS.
