Principal's Message
Happy May!!
We have made it! What a year! What's that old saying? "As you get older the days go slow, but the years go fast." Well, that couldn't be more true! There are so many great accomplishments that our students have made this year. You should be proud of them. May brings the month of many activities. Please stay on the lookout for updates about these events from your child's teacher, our school social medias and school website.
This summer there are many programs and activities to choose from to keep your child engaged in learning and having FUN! There are many options available with Mr. Gerber and his Summer Slam Program, specialized tutoring, Mrs. Holly Baker and the Public Library, Buffalo Bill Center of the West and so much more! If you have an questions about options available to your child, please reach out to your child's teacher.
As we wrap up the school year we see all emotions. Some are excited and ready to move on to the next year, others are nervous, some are getting ready for the transition to Middle School and so much more. We will miss this year but we are excited to see what the future holds for all of our students.
Have the best summer! Keep Reading, get outside, make memories and stay safe! As always, if there is anything your child's teacher or I can do to help. Please reach out to us via email or phone. (307-587-4271) -Mrs. Lewis

Arrival and Dismissal
Students need to be outside or at breakfast in the morning.
Breakfast starts at 7:45am
Time before school is used by teachers to plan and prepare lessons and materials. Because teachers are unavailable to supervise them, we cannot allow students to be in the hallways before 8:10am, unless you have arranged tutoring.
Instructional Bell- 8:10am
If you arrive after the bell you will be marked tardy.
Tardy: The elementary schools of Park 6 take attendance twice daily. Attendance is taken first thing in the morning and afternoon. In the morning , students who are late but arrive before 8:30 are counted tardy. If they arrive after 8:30, they would be considered absent for the morning. In the afternoon, students absent longer than 20 minutes after 11:30 will be considered absent for the afternoon.
Note: Habitual tardiness is dealt with at the building level. Five (5) tardies to school equal one unexcused absence.
Dismissal Bell-3:15pm
Friday Dismissal-Early out every Friday-1:35pm
Please call the office before 2:30pm if you have a change in after school plans. This helps with getting notes to the children in a timely manner. If we don't hear from you, we will assume to continue on with regular after school plans.
10 tips to help get your child to school on time, every day
Set attendance goals with your child and track your child's attendance on a calendar. Try offering small rewards for not missing any school, such as a later bedtime on weekends.
Help your child get a good night's sleep. A lack of sleep is associated with lower school achievement starting in middle school, as well as higher numbers of missed school and tardiness. Most younger children need 10-12 hours per night and adolescents (13-18 years of age) need 8-10 hours per night. Check how many hours your child needs here.
Prep the night before to streamline your morning. Have your child lay out their clothes. Have backpacks and lunches packed. Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up like a missed bus or an early meeting. Have a family member, a neighbor or another trusted adult on standby to take your child to school should you ever need help.
Try to schedule dental or medical appointments before or after school hours. If children have to miss school for medical appointments, have them return immediately afterward so they do not miss the entire day.
Schedule extended trips during school breaks. This helps your child stay caught up in school learning and sets the expectation for your child to be in school during the school year. Even in elementary school, missing a week of classes can set your child behind on learning.
Don't have your child stay home unless they are truly sick. Reasons to keep your child home from school include a temperature greater than 101 degrees, vomiting, diarrhea, a hacking cough, toothache or a positive tests for COVID-19 or other infectious illnesses. Keep in mind, complaints of frequent stomachaches or headaches can be a sign of anxiety and may not be a reason to stay home. See School Avoidance: Tips for Concerned Parents.
Talk with your child about the reasons why they do not want to go to school. School-related anxiety can lead to school avoidance. Talk to your child about their physical and emotional symptoms. Try to get them to talk about any emotional struggles they may have with issues like bullying, fear of failure or actual physical harm. If you are concerned about your child's mental health, talk with your pediatrician, your child's teacher or school counselor.
If your child has a chronic health issue such as asthma, allergies or seizures, talk with your pediatrician about developing a school action plan. Meet with and get to know the nurse at your child's school. If you need guidance and documentation for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan, ask for your pediatrician's help accessing services at school.
Follow the rules. Be sure you know what your school's requirements are for when your child will be absent or late. If you are supposed to call, email or provide a doctor's note after a certain number of days out, then do it. If we want our children to follow rules, we must lead by example.
Keep track of your child's attendance so you know when the days missed start to add up. Look into why your child is absent. Think about your child's mood. Have they been spending time by themselves lately? Is their chronic condition starting to be more problematic? Is this school refusal? You know your child best.

Livy PTK News & Noteworthy
Our PTK has planned a special week of events to show our gratitude to the talented and dedicated educators at Livingston Elementary School. During this week, our teachers will be treated to soothing massages, spa bags, and yummy food, to name just a few of the indulgences we have in store. We understand the hard work and commitment that goes into educating our children, and we want our teachers to know how much we value their efforts. We invite all parents and students to join us in making May 8th - 12th extra special for our teachers. Let's show them some love and appreciation, and help them feel renewed and refreshed for the rest of the school year. Thank you to our teachers. We couldn't do this without you!--
