Lurk, Learn and Share

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to learn how to use Twitter as an educational tool and to assist you in finding valuable information for your classroom. This mission is in two parts. See below for mission requirements. Winner at each building will receive a $25 gift card from your Principal.

The first part of your mission is to log into Twitter and lurk for a bit. Lurking is simply following and learning from the tweets in your stream or by searching (in search bar) for a particular hashtags such as:

• #ahsbio
• #auroraspanish
• #scichat (Science chat)
• #kinderchat (Kindergarten Chat)
• #1stchat (1st Grade Chat)
• #4thchat (4th Grade Chat)

• #ipaded (iPads in Education)
• #nebedu (Nebraska Education)
• #nebedchat (Nebraska Educators Chat)
• #satchat (Saturday Chat)
• #sschat (Social Studies Chat)
• #edchat (Education Chat)

When you find something you would like to share, simply retweet (RT) (sharing with those that are following you) and add the #aurorahuskies hashtag to the end of the tweet. This will allow others following our #aurorahuskies hashtag to see what others are sharing. By simply "retweeting" (RT) one thing with this hashtag, you have completed the first part of your mission.

You will be taking your Twitter experience to the next level during the second part of your mission. Your task here is to share something with the "Twitterverse." Tweet something happening in your classroom, an article that you found beneficial and would like to share. You are doing great things in your classrooms! Don't be an idea hoarder, share what you are doing. What you might think as menial could be magnificent to another teacher! Again, use the #aurorahuskies hashtag in your tweet and the second part of your mission is complete.

I will be monitoring the #aurorahuskies hashtag for participation and for those meeting the two parts, your name will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card from your building Principal.

Aurora High School Deadline

This challenge ends at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 13th. Winner will be notified by 3:30 pm.

Aurora Middle School Deadline

This challenge ends at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 18th. Winner will be notified that day.

Aurora Elementary School Deadline

This challenge ends at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 18th. Winner will be notified that day.
