Wolf Branch Elementary School

Good afternoon Wolf Branch families! I hope you are getting in those last minute vacations, spending time poolside, or simply relaxing with family and friends because the start of school is just around the corner!

I am excited to share some of the great things that are currently underway at Wolf Branch Elementary! Our enrollment continues to grow and as a result we have added a fifth section of both Kindergarten and first grade! Additionally, we have recently been awarded a generous grant enabling us to partner with Memorial Hospital to better support the social/emotional needs of our students and staff

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to our new families at Wolf Branch. While some families have come to us from other school districts, others have joined our Wolf Branch family from other states and even other countries! I am looking forward to meeting all of you at Open House!

The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Half of the kindergarten class will attend that day, while the remaining students will attend August 18, 2022. All kindergarten students will attend on Friday, August 19, 2022. Since our first day this year falls on a Wednesday, (early release day for professional development) school will dismiss at 2:00 that day.

School hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:00-3:00, and Wednesday 8:00-2:00. Students may begin arriving no earlier than 7:50 a.m. each day. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. must check in at the office and will be counted tardy.

Wolf Branch Elementary School Open House will be held Monday, August 15, 2022. The schedule for the night is listed below.

• 5:00-5:30 New Parent Orientation in cafeteria (Mrs. Poirot)
• 5:30-6:00 Student Safety Presentation (Security Officer Kurt Eversman)
• 6:00-7:30 Classrooms Open -This is a great opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher, check out the classroom, and bring in your child's supplies.

Bus routes will be posted on the school’s website the first week of August with approximate drop off and pick up times. Once school has started there may be some adjustments to route times. All Kindergarten and 1st grade students must have an adult present each day at the bus stop for drop off.

Before and after care is available for students in grades K-5 from 6:00-7:50 each morning and again from 3:00-6:00 each evening. Registration for BASIC is located on the school website. If you have not indicated that your child will utilize this service please contact the office as soon as possible. Please note that this is not a drop in service. Students must be registered and an agreed upon schedule is created in advance of a student attending.

BASIC has been relocated to a different part of the building starting on the first day of school. The BASIC entrance is accessed on the east end of Parking Lot A. Please park (additional spots have been added) and enter the primary playground following the sidewalk around back. There is a buzzer system on that door that is utilized when students are int he building. Please sign your child in and out upon arrival and departure.

Your child's safety is our number one priority at Wolf Branch. By following the procedures below, we can ensure that your child remains safe, and the process runs smoothly.

ARRIVAL

Please arrive no earlier than 7:50 each morning.

Lot A (Front of building) is designated for the arrival of PreK and Buses only.

• Prek Parents may pull up to the sidewalk located just to the right of the flagpole when facing the building. Parents remain in the car, and the PreK teachers will gather the students from the line of cars.

Lot B (West of Building, Adjacent to Huntwood Road)

• Parents of students in grades K-2 may park in a designated spot, walk their child to the crosswalk, remaining on the parking lot side, and a member of the Wolf Branch staff will cross the student and direct them to the grade appropriate entrance.
• Parents may form a single line adjacent to the curb, pull all the way forward, and allow their child/children to depart the vehicle curbside. A member of the Wolf Branch staff will then cross the child in the crosswalk and direct them to the grade appropriate entrance.

Drive Through Lane (West of Building, between Lot B and Lot C)

• Parents enter from Huntwood Road and pull all the way forward. There are signs posted and staff members flagging cars to the farthest point possible in the line. We ask that you remain in your car and allow your student to exit curbside. Staff will then direct your child to the grade appropriate entrance. (When exiting the drop off lane, parents must turn left onto Twin Lake Drive.)

Lot C (Adjacent to the upper grade playground and Twin Lake Drive)

• Parents of students in third and fourth grade may form a single line adjacent to the curb, pull all the way forward, and allow their child/children to depart the vehicle curbside. A member of the Wolf Branch staff will direct your child to the grade appropriate entrance. When exiting Lot C, parents will turn right onto Twin Lake Drive.

**Families with students in both K-2 and 3-4 grade bands, may use any of the drop off points to the west of the building.

**Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m. must enter through the main office to check in, therefore using Parking Lot A.

DISMISSAL

Lot A (Front of building) is designated for the departure of PreK and Buses only.

• Prek Parents may pull up to the sidewalk located just to the right of the flagpole when facing the building. Parents remain in the car, and the PreK teachers will deliver the students to the line of cars.

Lot B (West of Building, Adjacent to Huntwood Road)

• Parents of students in grades K-2 may park in a designated spot, walk to meet their child at the crosswalk, remaining on the parking lot side, and a member of the Wolf Branch staff will cross the student to meet you. (When exiting the pick up lane, parents must turn left onto Twin Lake Drive.)
• Parents may form a single line adjacent to the curb, pull all the way forward, and allow their child/children to enter the vehicle curbside. A member of the Wolf Branch staff will ensure that your child gets into the car safely.

Drive Through Lane (West of Building, between Lot B and Lot C)

• Parents enter from Huntwood Road and pull all the way forward. There are signs posted and staff members flagging cars to the farthest point possible in the line. We ask that you remain in your car and allow your student to enter curbside. Staff will ensure that your child gets into the car safely.

Lot C (Adjacent to the upper grade playground and Twin Lake Drive)

• Parents of students in third and fourth grade may form a single line adjacent to the curb, pull all the way forward, and allow their child/children to enter the vehicle curbside. When exiting Lot C, parents will turn right onto Twin Lake Drive.

We ask that ALL parents remain in their cars at all times unless utilizing Lot B to park and meet your child.

The cost for a school lunch this year is $2.75. Students may also purchase a milk for $ 0.65. Student lunch options each day include: two hot lunch entrees, salad, sunbutter and jelly, or a deli sandwich. They will also be offered a canned or fresh fruit and vegetable option each day.

Lunch accounts can be paid online through Teacherease or by sending in a check with your child. Students with lunch balances in excess of $10.00 will be offered an alternative lunch option.

Our Parent Teacher Committee, commonly known as PTC, is an amazing organization that plans fun, family oriented events and is committed to fundraising efforts that provide even more opportunities for our students and teachers. Please consider attending a meeting to learn more about how our can help our students! The first meeting is being held at Wolf Branch Middle School on August 25, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.

Traditionally, our PTC organizes 5 volunteers per homeroom to work the holiday classroom parties. This year 5 volunteers per classroom will be allowed for both classroom parties (October 31st and December 16th). Please look for correspondence from me shortly before the first day of school.
