Evaluations Must Be Conducted
Prior to the initial determination of a student with a disability, a full comprehensive and individual evaluation must be conducted in all areas related to the suspected disabilities of the student.
The LEA conducts initial evaluations in order to determine:
- If the student is a student with a disability;
- Whether the student needs special education services;
- The educational needs of the student; and
- The present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (related developmental needs) of the student.
Where to call for a free evaluation from the state? It depends on your child's age.
