With a few basic supplies, teams of students were challenged to engineer the ultimate rollercoaster! Our creative students always impress us with their ingenuity as students showed creativity, collaboration, and perseverance.

Center School students work with manipulatives to solve geometric puzzles and calculate volume.

Center School students are wrapping up fitness testing! Students participate in the curl-up test, push-up test, P.A.C.E.R test and Sit and Reach Flexibility test. Fitness data is collected twice a year; once in the fall and once in the spring. We talk about goal setting and 5th grade students have kept track of their progress with their own Personal Fitness Plan. These students are definitely Center School Strong!

Mrs. Mazzotta is a registered 200 hr yoga teacher with additional trainings in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Children’s Yoga through the ChildLight Education Company.

Start your Wednesday mornings off from 7:50-8:20 with outdoor yoga! Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle and mat, if you have one. Otherwise, mats will be available to borrow.

During the 3 free sessions held on 5/11, 5/18, and 5/25 students from 7:50-8:20, students will learn basic yoga poses, practice with partner and/or group poses, engage in mindfulness activities, useful breathing exercises, and relaxation/visualization techniques.

There is a maximum 15 students, so be sure to register soon by emailing cmazzotta@easthamptonct.org if you are interested!

“As a part of an 8th grade Capstone project at the middle school, a student is researching, raising awareness, and advocating to renovate the Middle Haddam School building in East Hampton to be used as a community recreation center. He has created a questionnaire for local residents to determine interest and hopes to gather as much community feedback as possible. If you have the time and are willing to complete his survey, it would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated!”

There are no Smarter Balanced or NGSS assessments scheduled for the week of April 25.

Over the Aril break, we will break down all of the folding tables in the cafe and move our cafeteria tables out of the gym. Two of the four lunch waves have been split this year, with two classes eating in the cafe, and two in the gym. We are preparing to transform our gym space into the Center School Theater as we host Aladdin Jr. the week after break. This is an ideal time to move all of our cafeteria tables and students back into the cafe for the remainder of the year.
